I've been talking with a huge company whose HQ is located within the North Shore, close walking distance to the stadium and ballpark.

Just curious, while checking out housing prices, what areas within a 30 minute drive (on a normal commute) are the best to look at? Assuming 9 o'clock is west, 12 is north, etc. Looks like there's a couple really nice houses just NW of that area, within blocks, that are a 10 minute drive that are really nice, and I was surprised they were selling for less than $300K. Maybe rifle's thug rap friends live in that area, or all over for that matter, but I was really surprised when looking at some of these older homes that are in top notch condition with outstanding wood work within.

griddy says head for 2 o'clock.

I spend a bit of time each day looking at properties in random cities on realtor.com. I was looking at Pittsburgh a couple of nights ago and saw a new remodel (gray exterior with black trim) that was, I believe, $275k which didn't look bad. I love the prices in the rust belt cities, but it's always a struggle to find new builds in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, etc.

This is one that I thought had potential:

Mexican, I am on a flight right now headed to Chicago to watch the Mets tonight and tomorrow. Then, I am headed to Denver to watch them. I will be in Atlanta and then Pittsburgh to watch them in a couple of weeks. Let me know if you want me to swing by the company's HQ and put in some words about you. I'll show them your posting style so they can understand what they're getting.

Speaking of the Cubs.. I don't think he is Mexican. He is more like Sammy Sosa Dominican. Like kiss his black ass.

When we were house searching, we needed a 2 car garage and there's basically nothing in a 5 mile radius that isn't street parking. There are some really nice homes in Shadyside and Point Breeze that are probably over a million bucks if I had to guess. Very heavy Jewish population there as well.

A lot of people commute in from Fox Chapel (NE), Cranberry (NW), Upper St. Clair (S), Bethel Park (S), Robinson Township (W), and Pleasant Hills (S). My cousin has a place in Mt. Washington, but people are way too close and again: no garage parking.

It's not really direction—there are homes everywhere and we looked everywhere before our purchase. But if spacing and boundaries are important, you're looking at about 7 miles outside the city or more. Modeling your commute is important as well. I wanted absolutely nothing to do with Route 28.

Just looked at a few homes, just to give the wife an idea of price and what you can get for your money there.

Here's one that's supposedly a 15 minute drive to Heinz Stadium.

This one is 10 minutes away. Keep in mind, I have no idea if these are in danger zones, if you know what I mean.

My wonderful wife likes an older style home, which there's many to choose from in Pittsburgh, but, as you suggested, either no garage, or at best, one small garage. Hell, I spend a lot of time in the garage making myself happy during the winter time. The other thing is that some only have one bathroom, and that's an issue for a married couple.

A couple of those are in the Mt. Lebo area which a few work colleagues live. A little cramped, but I could make it work if I wanted. Lots of good eateries. The one in Brighton Heights/McKees Rocks I don't know about. That area just seems weird to me.

No, we don’t. Can you elaborate?
You know, lots of construction going on. Seen a lot of people get hurt by falling debris when people are working many stories up. Certainly don't want to go for a walk and have to wear a damn hard hat. Wearing that mask to go to the doctor's office is about as far as I'm willing to go. Like herdman said, you get in there, and old Doc tells you to take off that damn mask.
