I find that interesting that the FUNbelt tournament is played in Florida since no member schools are located there.

Charleston Civic Center seats over 3,500 more folks than the Pensacola Bay Center (10,000).....

Heck, Marshall would flood the Capital City with $2.00 bills (all la Asheville) and sell about 6,000 tickets too....

The old SoCon tried the conference tournament in the, then new, Charleston Civic Center for two years in the early 80s. Marshall lost early both times, and the crowd looked like what they draw for the WVSSAC girls after that.

The idea that we could get 6000 in Charleston, when we are tarping off seats in Huntington, is just silly.

Anyway, a conference tournament, especially for a spread out one-bid league like the SBC, is a money loser. A handful of superfans of each team plus some alumni who ended up living in that area. Might as well have it someplace nice.

Im going to the Southern Conference tournament in Asheville this weekend to watch WCU... They get good crowds because they have the luxury of geographic proximity. Western Carolina, Furman, Wofford, ETSU, UNC Greensboro, all within a two hour drive of the host site... And really not a bad trek from Chattanooga, Mercer, Citadel, VMI or Samford.

For leagues that are too spread out to have a "central" location that could draw fans from 4-5 schools, you are right, pick somewhere on a beach and go with it.

Charleston would not be available for the Sun Belt Tournament due to the conflict with Boys and Girls High School Basketball Tournaments. The Mountain east Conference (the old WVIAC) which held their tournament in Charleston for years holds their tournament in Wheeling now due to those conflicts.

We’ll likely have to face ULL again. That’s bad news bears
Agreed... ULL is the one team this year that dominated us when we played them. Their bigs made our guys look like middle school kids and their quick little point guard ran circles around Taylor.

But we don't get pushed around. LOL!

Right now, doesn’t look like we will be playing ODU. Down 25 with five minutes left.

I was reading how the Big 12 Tournament had special food planned to depict each team. Also concerts, give-a-ways, and other entertainment. Sounded like fun. Guess we aren’t at that level for sure.

Yea. Guess we aren’t big 12 material… weird.

I hadn’t heard this so I looked it up. Yes, wvu’s food was pepperoni rolls. Lol. Pepperoni rolls < WV style hot dogs. Cole slaw on a chili dog is a Southern WV thing. At least they didn’t try to appropriate it. You can have your pepperoni rolls. Boring as hell. If you’re in a pepperoni mood why not just have a slice of pepperoni pizza?

Anyone watching the Sun Belt championship game tonight? I’m ashamed to admit that I didn’t even know what USA stood for. Thought maybe UL was playing some Olympic team.

Note how little ESPN thinks of this vomit league. Its on ESPN2 . What is on regular ESPN? The SoCon. Not to mention that while this is the only SBC game on real TV, multiple other low leagues get semis and even quarters on real TV. CAA, Horizon, WCC, Southland, Summit, more. THAT is how little ESPN thinks of this joke of a league.

This is a token effort.

Thanks for your input Sam. It’s always greatly appreciated.
