Has us playing USF in the St. Pete bowl on 12/26.

Other C-USA match-ups:

Southern Miss vs. Arkansas St on 12/19 in the New Orleans Bowl.

Houston vs. Western Kentucky on 12/21 in the Miami Beach Bowl.

Ohio vs. La Tech 12/24 in the Bahamas Bowl.

ECU vs. MTSU on 12/28 in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

Utah State vs. ODU on 12/29 in the Arizona Bowl.

If we don't win out St. Pete would be a nice landing spot versus USF. That Miami Beach Bowl versus Houston looks mighty attractive, though.

I thought Miami beach was the better bowl until I realized that it is at 2:30 on a random Monday. St Petersburg is looking better to me now.

Not sure that the Monday before Christmas in Miami isn't better than 10AM the day after Christmas.

I read today that MTSU was about to accept the Bahamas bid. I would expect to see us in St Pete vs. South Florida or Miami vs. Temple. I think if we beat WKU we take Miami, if they win they choose Miami. The loser goes to St. Pete. La Tech vs. Arkansas State in New Orleans. IF ODU beats FAU then they go to New Mexico or Arizona. USM to Dallas vs. most likely Washington.

Saw the same tweet. I'm glad the Bahamas Bowl vs. a MAC school is no longer on the table. Don't think that would have been well attended.

I'm sure MTSU was ecstatic to land the game after being left out of a bowl a couple times over the past few years despite being bowl eligible.

That's a good point about MTSU… A game in the Bahamas that none of your fans can attend is better than no game at all.

St. Pete, Miami and Dallas are the three best places for us, although each of those games has some kind of downside… Miami is a terrible time slot, St. Pete is at a terrible venue the day after Christmas and Dallas puts you up against a 6-6 opponent (albeit from the Big10).

heart of dallas is a b12, not b10 bowl this year. with the b12 getting a team in the playoff and a team in the sugar bowl, that'll likely leave them shy of enough eligible teams to fill all their slots. they'll have 6 or 7 (texas likely won't get to 6 wins, kansas state will have to be ku and wvu to get there) bowl eligible teams to fill 8 spots. most projections have a p12 school in that spot, but it could be anyone really.

Speculation is that the Pac 12 will fill the Dallas spot for the Big 10. Washington and California are the teams I am seeing mentioned most.

IMHO,

New Orleans - Not bad. On a Saturday, and early enough that it doesn't ruin Christmas. NOLA is a great place to visit. Saints play the following Monday night.

Bahamas Bowl ruins Christmas and nobody will go.

Miami Beach is a day game on a working Monday played in a baseball stadium. But it is in Florida.

St. Pete is a Saturday, and in Florida. But it is another baseball stadium.

HOD is also Saturday, but it ends up being a "wild card" with the Big 12 unable to fill its slots. Stadium is rotting.

Arizona is a workday weeknight, but it is clear enough of the holidays to be a nice trip. But they will go for a western team.

except we'll only have two "western" teams bowl eligible in la tech and southern miss.

Could be back to the days of having only one or two bowl tie ins, I guess we should be glad. At the same time all this gluten of bowl games has really put a damper on things, even if we bitch about our 8-4 team being left home in 2003. That being said, I do believe some downsizing needs to happen, sad day when even the worst conference has more than 3 tie ins. Not going to happen though. I remember how good it felt to finally get a spot in a second bowl in Mobile while in the MAC.

That being said, I will lay money on the Miami Bowl being our destination with St. Pete as the backup.

Playing a PAC 12 school in Dallas isn't a bad option in my opinion, especially if it means getting another win over a P5 school....

Miami and St Pete are both Baseball stadiums, but Miami sets up great for football. I went to the game last year! Terrific venue

navy's last choice for a bowl is going to play a bowl at its own stadium . Second the Annapolis / military bowl is in the Washington Baltimore metro area which is the third largest media market. Also DC has fans from everywhere and a great way to recruit future donors and students. Maryland is a clos drive for fans. would rather have an alternate year Tie-in and play temple/or some ACC team. no dig but no fans are screaming to go to the Bahamas bowl

Guys, we're not going to Dallas (or any other non-Florida location) unless it is the only bowl option made available to us.

Why is that??

Why would we not want to play in a bowl that gives us the best exposure with a win. I don't care if it's in Alaska. I know many of you guys don't like to admit it but the only thing that gives us any exposure is beating a P5. It is what it is in college football. Right now the only CUSA bowl that matches our conference against a P5 is the Heart of Dallas bowl. If we have the chance to play in Dallas against a Washington or California and we don't take it then I feel it's a really dumb decision.

because it's advantageous for our conference to place us in florida and another team like usm, la tech in dallas.

I felt the same way last year because we ended up playing a MAC team but this year we'd likely be matched up against a top 25ish AAC team, which would be a solid game and would generate some buzz. Washington very well could be 5-7 and Cal will most likely be 6-6.

Last years Boca Raton was not a bad bowl. We didn't just play a MAC team, we played their champ. Now if they would have matched us against a runner up, I would have been less enthusiastic. It didn't hurt that we beat them like a drum to prove which conference champ as the best. If memory serves me right, they weren't ranked that far behind us at that time.

On the other hand I would like to play another P-5 team to place another scalp the same year but I don't think that is happening. So question is, which one or two bowls will the conference leave unfilled. Arizona? New Mexico?

Navy would play in their own stadium in a heart beat against an ACC team. Its a better name opponent unless they are going to the access bowl, and my money is on them going.

unless we can get a 1 loss Toledo or a 1-2 loss Navy/Houston/Temple, i'm with Cali...

Thing about it is Andy none of those teams give us any respect either. I heard 2 sports talk guys talking about Notre Dame just a few minutes ago. They were talking that the best thing they had going for them was their loss to Clemson. They went on to say their best win was Navy. Which was followed by how do you put someone in a playoff when their best win is Navy.

Now understand I think Toledo, Houston, Temple, Navy and Memphis are all very good teams and could beat several P5s but in the world of college football beating a 6-6 Cal team is better than an 11-1 Houston team or Toledo etc. Unfortunately that is the reality of college football.

agree

i do think in my scenario those teams with 1 or 2 loses would be ranked in the top 25 and give us a better shot at finishing the season ranked than a win over a 6-6 P5. that could be a big boost going into next season with a lot of guys returning. on the other hand, coming off a season with 2 P5 wins an the chance to get 2 more early in 2016 (Louisville and Pitt) would be HUGE in the "perception" category.

It is a strange world we live in as college football fans... Beating a 6-6 Cal or Arizona State team is considered a "better" win than beating a 9-10 win team from a G5 league. Perception is reality.
I agree with you but if we want to get more respect WE HAVE TO play and beat the P5 schools every chance we get. Shame cause playing a good G5 is a better match up many times but does nothing for us, eg., NIU
