How do they know that 1) the SBC would just take us if we asked and 2) we're for sure going to the SBC.

Couple of things, Marshall could move to the Sun Belt TODAY. There's no doubt they would invite us/accept us if we wanted to go.
As for CUSA, I would hope this would be the beginning to a new Eastern based G5 conference with the CUSE and Sun Belt East getting together. Of course UAB and So Miss would be invited to join if they wanted to do so.
