Just saw that Bruno Mars is suing Miley Cyrus for stealing his “Flowers” song. I listened to both songs and I didn’t hear the similarities. Bruno’s song seemed slow and boring to me while the Cyrus song had an upbeat tempo, was snappy, and made me want to listen to it again.

I know little about music theory and there are people here (especially one) who understand this stuff. Comments?

The song is very similar to Bruno's version. Miley's version uses the same chords as his throughout. The lyrics are very similar. The speed/tempo of the song is irrelevant to a copyright claim. I thought it what used to be called an "answer" song where it is reacting to another song.

For the record, Bruno is not suing anybody. He sold much of his catalog to an investment group. The investment group is who is suing Miley. Bruno is probably too busy gambling . . .
