It was nice knowing everyone

Dammit can we just celebrate like it's 1905. The industrial revolution coming burning coal again like it's going out of style in old coke ovens. I moving back to Wv to open up some company stores. We will need hundreds of horses and mules to pull the carts out of the mines. This is going to be great.

Boy you know nothing about mining coal. Machines do all the work.the men run the equipment.

Boy trump stuck his neck out for the miners..Took control of the epa and pulled out of the paris accord. Him and Joe Manchin are trying to help miners. Manchin saved the miners pensions. That was wonderful

Hope the citizens of those fine cities can find work, when manufacturing decides to move out. Also, hope the citizens are willing to flip the bill. Hell, we already know most of them don't have any money to begin with. Laughable. Trump is the last hope of stopping the Socialist movement. Here's to hoping he's successful in doing so.

That's because you believe your own lies, puff.

That's rich! A libtard in a thread about climate change talking about believing own lies!!

Tell us again (even if we all agree the world is warming and it's due to man) why the US reducing emissions significantly at a cost helps cool the planet while big polluters like India and China just keep on polluting....

moron

No. I. Ignore SOMETIMES what u say. I just post what ever pops in my head. Do u understand. No PC
. Some of your post are very good and funny.

If this isn't more evidence to my belief that the idea that man can alter ( and then "save") the climate,
.

This, along with many other comments from the people in this thread over the years, continues to prove that you just don't understand the science and rationale behind it. Really, if you said this to scientists in that industry, they would look at you like you were the dumbest person they have ever seen. And outside of the people they see shopping at Walmart, they may be correct.

The claim isn't that man can "save the climate" like you said. Do you really not understand the issue or can you just not argue against it, hence having to attribute false stances to your opponent?

Nobody is "saving the climate" or saving Earth. Earth is going to be here long, long after we will be here. It was here for billions of years before humans and will be for a long time after humans. Earth/climate doesn't need saving. Humans aren't destroying it as your side likes to falsely attribute the scientists are claiming. In reality, our actions and inactions are contributing to a transformation of Earth that is bad for humans (and other similar lifeforms).

Rising sea levels cost us billions; pollution costs us in health issues and money; global warming is bad for national security; global warming further exacerbates issues in war-torn countries.

The Paris Agreement isn't about "saving the climate" or saving Earth. It is about saving humans- saving us money, saving our security, saving our health, and saving our existence.

The Paris Accord is and was a nothingburger in real life. Dozens of signatory countries have already violated their "promises" and the United States, through natural economic concerns (hello natural gas) will beat our goals in the Paris requirements without the need of a worthless piece of paper.

By the way, who gets to foot the bill for most of the up front cost of this so-called "international" agreement? The US of course, because the big whiners in Europe are a bunch of coddled, arrogant, spoiled brats who, if they really believed in this religious cult, would be willing to pony up for it themselves.

Oh look? That was easy.

Nothing more laughable than political science majors claiming to be scientists.

Doesn't get any better than that. Well, they did take 3 hrs of Biology in college.

It gets a lot better than that.

For instance, check out a fvcking moron make a pathetically illogical argument on a message board. It's much more laughable.

I don't need a CDL and 25 years of experience driving tractor-trailers to believe that certain safety requirements are needed if an overwhelming majority of career drivers make the same claim about the necessary requirements.

I don't need to be a professional cricket player to trust that a particular cricket player is the best of all-time when over 97% of hall-of-fame cricket players agree with it.

Likewise, I don't need to have a PhD in a science field to trust that what is said when over 97% of the leading experts across the world agree.

To compound the pure stupidity in your comment, my post was about your side (I quoted Raleigh) not even making arguments that my side (science) is making. He was misrepresenting arguments.

The 97% of scientists thing really hammers home my point about advanced mathematical and scientific studies and why I'm glad I didn't pursue them.

I said before that maybe 1 out of 1000 ever accomplish anything of practical use. The rest of them waste their lives studying something that'll never be used for anything. Worse yet, they must bum for grant money to keep the worthless game going so they at least won't starve to death in their hamster wheel in a lab somewhere.

Talk about a mind being a terrible thing to waste. I've been down this road. I enjoyed calculus, higher math and science. Would have been great to use it for something. It was just a weed out game. Studying it beyond what it takes to complete your rite of passage is virtually fruitless.

Exactly this. The Earth has gone through five mass extinctions. From 50% to 90% of the earth's life became extinct due to environmental pressures. But life continued and flourished after each extinction. Earth will be fine and new species will arise, some thriving in the new environment. But will humans survive a rapidly heating earth? I have no clue, but scientist who do this for a living are nearly unanimous in believing we need to be concerned. Logic tells me that rising sea levels and the stress put on the food supply is going to present a problem. We talk about how these climate accords are bad for business. How bad will business be if rising oceans destroy billions of dollars of coastal properties and coastal cities and businesses?

The problem is that during the existence of modern humans we've had an atmospheric concentration of between 180 to 220 ppm. All the talk of higher concentrations in the past as an example of "this happened before and we're still here," is silly because humans didn't even exist when concentrations were that high. The existing life went through the evolutionary process with most life going the way of extinction and life suited for the change flourished.

The concentration of carbon in the atmosphere started rising in the late 1800s coinciding with the onset of the industrial revolution. We are now at over 400 ppm. We know that carbon concentration causes temperatures to rise and we know that man is putting it there. The statements like, "There used to be a tropical environment in Alaska," as an example that temperatures fluctuated before man even existed (as though this is some kind of cycle) is silly too. We had a volcanic earth at the time. We had a meteorite the size of Manhattan pulverize us as well. But again...this was way before man existed contrary to those who believe we walked with the dinosaurs.

This time man is putting carbon in the air. Not volcanic activity. Not meteorite hits. Humans. 97% of the scientific community, the majority of the people in foreign countries, and an ever increasing number of people in the US are concerned. But here we have like minded people reveling in a political victory, ignoring mountains of evidence, and choosing to believe only the evidence...mostly produced by the merchants of doubt...to promote confirmation bias of their worldviews. Here's another difference between now and then. This is the first time that we have life that can actually contemplate their existence in the world and are intelligent enough to do something about it. What a shame it would be if we are wrong and risk the future existence of our specie so that we can produce some jobs and thumb our noses at our ideological opposites.

Throw away the politics and actually study this stuff. I have a history of conservatism. I spouted many of the same things and quoted many of the same sources. But when I really dug in honestly...I mean forced myself to be objective...I discovered that I was really holding onto my ideology at the expense of the truth. But go ahead...the majority here are reveling in their own political victory finding way more enjoyment in trampling on their opposition than they are at trying to look at it objectively.

Fine....then why does it make sense for the US to make significant reductions while the world's biggest polluters keep on doing it until 2030, assuming they even follow this unenforceable deal.

it's not about the climate. if it were the entire world would be cutting emissions quickly as well.

Maybe you and 88 can get together when he's bored and come up with something you have to believe in order to be a scientologist. So far, the entire list of posters on this board have come up with a sum of zero. All that (zero) and you've had years to research.

Except for the 10 I posted directly from the scientology website which you conveniently ignored. Stop lying.

It's all for people who want to feel more important than they are. Just can't deal with being so insignificant that they can't affect things for generations. Like it or not, 1-2 generations after you die everything you did, everything you were, is all gone.

You'll leave no lasting impression, not beyond the next generation down. Each generation must be intelligent enough to figure out how to deal with their conditions at the time.

You're here for 60 or 70 years, 100 years tops. 30 of that would be useless. Might as well enjoy them. They're all you get.

Whoever said it, yes this is pretty much just another form of religion. A way for people to deal with apparently a not so wonderful thought that this 60-70 years is all you have.

That is actually the opposite of how science portrays man. I've read a few science books and almost all of them portray humans as being insignificant in the grand scheme.

I could post these images depicting the opposite of your claims, created and marketed by your kind of bullshit all day long. Your attempts at this discussion ultimately becomes a semantic argument. For human life to be salvaged, what ultimately must be done (based on your premise)? Of course..."save" the planet.

Of course it's not ultimately about saving the planet (which was the basis of my entire post). It's about monetary profits and consolidated control, in order to meet the goals and purpose across countless organizations (govt and private).

I understand the discussion perfectly. I deal with a certain sector of scientists, and their "funding" (private and govt means) on a daily basis. I understand their game and the role they play in it. You have no clue as to what scientists would say about my thoughts despite your arrogant claims of superiority.

Stick with discussing ugly redheads and Walmart rhetoric. I know a lot of scientists that would laugh at you. Not with you.

How in the world is ISIS remotely relevant to GW?
Because he writes pie in the sky nirvana like statements like this

"The Paris Agreement isn't about "saving the climate" or saving Earth. It is about saving humans- saving us money, saving our security, saving our health, and saving our existence."

Then, it is just like the pie in the sky nirvana like statement about winning ISIS over with kindness.

They weren't all centered around this issue were they?

It's unfortunate that the liberal slant taught in schools has even affected the mentality of scientists. Our best and brightest have now succumbed to this idea that we have all these limitations. It's all about mitigating life.

How about going into it like in the good old days of figuring out how to maximize life with what we've got?

Nope, can't do that. We're all guilt ridden now. We've had too much cake for too long. Everything's too good so now we have to make it suck so we can say we sacrificed for the greater good.

It's all a big cave in to the same people who guilt trip you with the bus story, the Indians, and everything else.

Not me. I won't join that party. Send me an invitation when the studies are focused on how to live a better and fuller life.

As smart as some of you guys are, I can't believe you fall for this crapola. It is all crapola. Is nearly cult like and a state of panic.
They are more faithful and committed than any baptist or Catholics I know.
