It's Official: Gasperilla Bowl vs USF

*than

Nobody can really say how Doc would have done had CUSA stayed where it was. He dominated ECU in their final year there and took us to the CUSA title game as well.
My guess is that the higher stature CUSA would have had would have lead him to going after and landing higher level of recruits and that we would have at least been as competitive in CUSA as we are now. Of course, if we had the same results in the old CUSA everyone would be much happier than they are now.

There is nothing unlimited about taking NQs.
.

How many gulps of water does your wife allow you to drink each day? Oh, she doesn't have a limit for you? That means you're allowed to take unlimited gulps of water per day.

When you don't have a limit on something, it is unlimited. Marshall doesn't have a limit on the number of non-qualifiers it takes, which is why your own number isn't even cemented.

. We take no more than 5-6 per year,

That's like saying Dolly Parton's tits are only 40DDs.

Taking 5-6, again with a limit, is essentially unlimited. Just how many football players do you think Marshall wants that they can't take/get in school as non-qualifiers? It's a very, very, very (add in a few more "verys") small number over a decade.

Academically, even NQs have to meet the minimum admission standards for students.

This is comical. Do you know what the requirements are for Marshall? You have to be able to spell your name . . . not even your surname, just your first name. And if you can't correctly spell your first name, you can still be accepted into Marshall in their University College program on campus.

Normally, you have to have a high school GPA of 2.0. That is straight Cs. However, even if you have lower than a 2.0, you can still get accepted into Marshall in the University College program.

Don't give me this "NQs have to meet the minimum admission standards for students." If you can't meet the Marshall minimum standards, you have severe, severe issues. Even if you don't hit the fictional minimum standards, you can still be accepted into Marshall.

We can't just take anybody, and we have lost some signees in the past that could not meet the minimum requirements for admission.

There isn't a single FBS school that allows admission to students worse than what Marshall allows.

If a kid gets accepted into University College (those are people with a high school GPA under 2.0 - in other words, kids whose entire high school transcript is full of nothing but Ds and Cs), he has problems. If a kid can't even get into University College, he won't have the ability to remember more than three plays, let alone be able to tie his cleats before taking the field.

Some rumors from the USF boards were that they wanted to the OC gone and he was on the hot seat. It sounds like he got out while the getting was good.

He wasn't loved during his time in Austin either. He tried hard to get the Texas State job a few weeks ago.

USF's problem wasn't offense this year. They put up nearly 450 yards per game. Like always under Strong, their special teams were bad. It's amazing that Strong, regardless of where he is, can consistently have really bad special teams play.

Its not that low or the guys that couldn't enroll would have easily made it. Most of our recruits that are NQs either have low test scores or are missing a core requirement to be eligible and usually are below the standards with both. I would say it was more of a case that they could not afford the cost of paying for a year of school.

In the last 10 the following teams have won their division five times (or been 1st or 2nd for non division leagues) and their league three.

Alabama, Clemson, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Northern Illinois (which you despise us playing in 2014, so they don't count), Boise State, and Fresno State.

That is 7 out of 124. Every other coach should be fired.

So for the most part, the programs that by tradition, branding, and resources should dominate do so. Thanks for making our argument, that was swell of you.
