It's a huge signing. It helped Marshall jump up to the 121st best signing class in the country according to 247. Marshall's class is only one spot behind Princeton's class. Yes, Princeton is an FCS school. Yes, Princeton doesn't even take part in the FCS playoffs.
According to 247, Marshall's class is ranked 11th out of 14 teams in C-USA. Two of the teams behind Marshall didn't have a head coach until last week.
Rivals isn't much nicer to the Herd. They have Marshall's class at #92 behind WKU, FIU, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, Middle Tennessee, and Charlotte.
On a phenomenal note, Marshall's staff has again been the only school in the country in both FBS and FCS to offer a scholarship to a bunch of their signees. The Marshall coaching staff's ability to see potential in so many players each year that no other school thinks is worthy should lead the Herd to another #2 or #3 spot in their division. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

This class is only half done....Unlike most school Marshall pulls its better recruits in the spring. Leftwich had no other D1 offers to play QB......Pennington only had walk-on offers. I think they turned out OK....Like most years Marshall will end up near' if not the top class in CUSA......
A certain QB from Martinsburg was in the same boat as Leftwich and Pennington but Doc passed because he had Green in the fold as his future. A starting QB from Florida helps him with that pipeline.
Pennington was signed what, 24-25 years ago, Leftwich about 20-21 years ago. Do you have some examples of program changing players that had no offers that are more recent? Maybe since the Internet has become popular.
New and improved? Does that mean he doesn’t beat his wife, doesn’t steal from fellow Marshall fans, doesn’t frequently make racist/homophobic/sexist comments, doesn’t live at his mom’s in his thirties, can keep a job longer than two months, can spell his name, doesn’t take pictures of his armpits in public gyms and post them online, and doesn’t get banned from Twitter for his threats towards others?

Those QB’s were assisted by phenomenal coaching. Who on this staff is developing Qb’s like they did back in those days?
Litton committed to USF then had legal issues. After those his recruitment "opened back up" and he came to Marshall.

Doc just looking for some diamonds in the rough who just love to play football, work hard and get better.. I think he realizes they will likely stay 4 years and actually make it to campus unlike the 3 and 4 stars. LolIt's a huge signing.
