Landon says BYU and UCONN (football only) to the Big 12

Who else would be joining them do you think?

I really do see the MAC heading for a breakup. OH and MI 's budget problems make WV's look tame and, frankly, as much as we or our little brothers up north might not want to hear it, MU is WAAAAAAAAY more relevant relative to WVU in the general WV scheme of things than the MACers are to their Big 10 state schools.

Looking at USA Today, the subsidy average in the MAC looks to be about 60%. And these schools are becoming more "non-traditional" aged as people go to school due to the ongoing Depression and are becoming more female. And more people and more jobs have left OH and MI than any other states. At some point students and taxpayers have to say "why am I borrowing $X to pay for ballgames I don't go to and don't care about? "

Some of these schools have booster clubs smaller than the local Rotary and have upwards of 90% of students who have NEVER gone to a game of any sort during their whole time. They used to live off the local blue collar working people who went to live sports. But those times are mostly gone.

NIU and WMU for sure.

Would think Miami and CMU have enough resources and interest as well.
Probably right, Miami seemed to have a rather large subsidy though but then again the lowest in the MAC was Toledo at 56%. Miami has history but modern day Miami has really gone to the pits with support. I don't think they would be one of the ones forced down but times may get tough for them. If EMU and Kent get forced down, does it make the MAC more attractive? They would definitely surpass CUSA if they trimmed the fat. Speaking of subsidy, look at FAU and FIU, shew why did we add both of those again?

On the whole, economy in the state of Ohio is in a HELL of a better shape than that in WV. May be some pockets of economic decline, greater Youngstown area, coal mining areas, etc., but state overall is not in that bad of a shape. Can't speak about Michigan.

To be honest with you, I wish the G5 would stand strong together and nobody accepts the Big XII invite. We can all sit back and watch the inevitable happen. The Oklahoma Schools, Texas, and Texas Tech to the Pac 12. TCU and Baylor to the SEC. Kansas and Iowa State to the Big 10. Kansas State to the MW and WVU to the ACC.

That is one of the silliest things I have ever read.

Other possible teams in danger, long term, to move down to FCS: E. Michigan, Kent, UMass, ULM.

What about teams like Troy & NM State? Can CCU, ODU, South Alabama, Appy State and Georgia Southern make it work long term financially?
