The AD and University are going to watch the Conference COY walk out and head to another conference program? All the while remain dead ass silent through all of it? 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Well, then do or say something. Program is losing recruits daily, half this team is going to hit the portal and quite a few are going with him. Marshall better move quick or they’re going to be miles behind the 8 ballIf Huff doesn’t want to be here there’s nothing they can do about it. If they’ve offered extensions and he’s declining them then there’s nothing you can do.
Maybe he loves it here and would like to stay, if that’s the he truth then he’s done a really poor job of showing that.
No reason to worry. I was told on here yesterday that stability in coaching really doesn’t matter these days…..🙄Well, then do or say something. Schools were already losing 30+ kids in the offseason. We brought in 40-ish from the portal. Due to the portal there's a chance that ANY school, not just ours, could see a mass exodus due to a coaching change. New coaches are going to have a tall task on their hands preventing schools from taking at least a step back for their first season.Yeah, literally no one state that it doesn't matter and you know that. But once again you and herdfan are like children. What was said was that it did not automatically mean we would be in a full tear down and rebuild mode.
I don't think he won. I think he was betting on himself because he thought he was destined for a bigger job. Now all he's left with is going the worst team in the SBC and one of if not the worst teams in the FBS.Look, Huff bet on himself and it looks like he won.

I hope that doesn’t happen. Chad is a Marshall legend. Why take a chance of ruining that by becoming the head coach?Eagerly awaiting the "hire Chad Pennington" discussions.
Really??? Try and keep up with the thread.Yeah, literally no one state that it doesn't matter and you know that. But once again you and herdfan are like children. What was said was that it did not automatically mean we would be in a full tear down and rebuild mode.
Coaching hires don’t set back or define your program for a decade any longer.
I think some are looking at this (potential) decision too myopically. The only real risk to him is that he doesn't turn around a bad program, he's fired and has to go back to assistant level status at a bigger program.I don't think he won. I think he was betting on himself because he thought he was destined for a bigger job. Now all he's left with is going the worst team in the SBC and one of if not the worst teams in the FBS.

Right now he is controlling the narrative. You're right they should do something. But I'm not sure what that would be outside of making it public that they have offered him a contract and he is refusing to sign it. Ultimately though I think this may be the right move. If you anger him and he leaves before Saturday you likely lose the game by double digits (he knows this). So as long as everyone in that locker room is focused, your best chance to win is going to be waiting until Sunday.
I think the people leaving are going to leave. They probably already know they're leaving no matter who the coach is. I think you have to try and win the championship Saturday and then deal with everything after. Championships don't come around every year and hurting our chances to win Saturday just to get a jump on the next head coach I think would be a mistake.
The boom you hear are some heads exploding around Herd country.
that sure reads like no extension was ever offered....The boom you hear are some heads exploding around Herd country.
Raleigh, supposedly S&S are in Raleigh right now!The boom you hear are some heads exploding around Herd country.
"for a decade" is key to that sentence.Really??? Try and keep up with the thread.
This is always a problem Marshall fans seem to have: a weird, misguided belief anyone coaching at Marshall should accept there is nothing better unless you leave for P5 (and even that is met with anger/frustration by many). That living in Hgtn with an undying allegiance to the school and town is the only choice.
There hasn't been this season no. He was told at the end of last year that it was in the conference or bust. The Southern Miss stuff didn't just appear out of nowhere. Whether it was leverage or not, Huff or his agent has tried every single season to leave.that sure reads like no extension was ever offered....
Absolutely.I would like someone making more than 99% of people in this state to not act like its a chore to live here. And like he is doing us a favor for existing here. Is that asking for undying allegiance? nah.
He's too smart to even go down that roadI hope that doesn’t happen. Chad is a Marshall legend. Why take a chance of ruining that by becoming the head coach?
That's what I don't understand. Did his wife not come with him and look around before he got the job? He could have declined and stayed with Saban, making the same cash.Absolutely.
I 100% get that Marshall is not a terminal destination for any coach in any sport (save for men's soccer, and someday someone will write a great dissertation on how West Virginia became the epicenter of college soccer in the USA). 100% get it. 100%.
BUT, CH rolled into town looking for another job, lecturing the fan base about "atmosphere", and looking down on the city, state, and region. I did not hear that from any coach, in any sport, since Billy Donovan.
Hey, different parts of this great country are, well, different. Some people are not going to like it here, but be you a ball coach, a professor, student, USA COE transferee, doctor or other health care worker, businessman, or whatever looking at Huntington, look before you leap.
What about a GM role? He's too smart to even go down that road
I could see that in some capacity. He still has one son in middle/high schoolWhat about a GM role?
Andrew Luck @ Stanford style.
I remember a few years back he said he would not want to deal with college recruiting and having to be on the road constantly. I bet with the portal and NIL he feels even stronger in that feeling. He's too smart to even go down that road
I truly believe they thought this job was a 1-2 year job and he was going to be able to have success rather quickly and move on. How many times did he say early on that he was only here to close the gap. I don't care what you think of 2020, but we were a division champs with a pretty well stocked roster. You could see it in his recruiting early on that he was trying to catch lightning in a bottle. That's what I don't understand. Did his wife not come with him and look around before he got the job? He could have declined and stayed with Saban, making the same cash.
I guess they thought they could stand hell on earth for 2-3 years and then move on.
It's now year 4 and they can't take it anymore.
Agreed. A lot of speculation by many who have no real knowledge or specifics.that sure reads like no extension was ever offered....
