I don't blame the kids, this is on Benedict Huff and his coaches.
You can’t send 35 rookies to play a team that should be in the playoffs. We would have Bern beaten bad and many might have gotten injured.

Players have always been loyal to the coaches and that was the issue with the transfer rules.

Any player who deserted Marshall shouldn’t get another chance… any coach who assisted in this mess with Huffstee shouldn’t get another coaching gig.. the portal sucks anyway, ruined college football!
Pathetic look for University, hopefully NCAA changes portal dates as well.. Portal needs reworked immediately!

Does this include fans who claim to never attend another Marshall game again because they lose a game, or the toilets look bad, or the dozen other dumb things you whine about on the daily...then ultimately come back to MU because you can't keep your word?

Good for you do you want a cookie? The meaningless toilet paper bowl doesn't matter. It's just an extra game. Bowl games used to be an honor now over half the teams from fbs go bowling. So yes when the majority of teams go they tend to become meaningless

It’s wild how bent up everyone is that we aren’t playing in a bowl game with a team that would have struggled to defend their option, coaches that would have been able to pull it together quickly, and not get stomped by 45. It would have been more embarrassing than to regroup, rebuild, and recover.

The coach chose to not sign an extension and also chose to leave. You are perpetuating the attempts to undermine the administration.
The loyalty some are showing to someone who has seemingly held MU, and you and me, in contempt from virtually day 1 and continues to do so really boggles the mind...
Pathetic look for the University would be getting beat 66-3 like FSU. This is a pathetic look for the NCAA and the NIL. Who didn't see this coming? Unfortunately it is MU that is the one in the unenviable position that was bound to happen sooner rather than later...
I have never been more disappointed in a program than I am now. I mean we won the Sun Belt Conference and it was like as soon as the game was over we could not celebrate. Huff wanted out of town so bad the players didn't even get to enjoy the celebration when they got back. Now we don't have enough players wanting to play in the Independence Bowl vs Army. Lost our coach and half our team from a program that a week ago won the conference title.....very hard to comprehend. These NIL contracts need to include playing in the bowl game in order to get your final installment.
I have been thinking the exact things. MU could be the impetus to change this glaring weakness in the NIL.

So far, what Huff told players remains hearsay, regardless of how pissed everyone is at him.
Still, the optics of this debacle are bad, real bad.
You give Marshall to much credit. The ncaa doesn't give two sh!ts about what happens at Marshall with regards to the portal
I feel most sorry for the players who stuck with the program and the fans who booked travel and accommodations for the game.
Beg to disagree. I've never believed the NCAA cares about anything but the NCAA. This could put enough public and media pressure on them though.
We were never down to 41 players and three lineman, maybe these are the numbers they wanted to play. But i'm pretty confident the team number was near 105, like every other D1 program. Even if you subtract 40, that still leaves 65 kids who are staying home, no reward for their WHOLE YEAR efforts; it was there chance.
We were down to 51 players. 29 of which had taken a snap all year. And a coaching staff that was also limited. The University made the right decision in this case.
I feel bad for the seniors who will miss this last opportunity to take the field one more time. But I don’t think any fan of Marshall would have wanted to see the kind of game this limited team would have produced.
Fans wanted a reset from Huff. The university is giving us a reset.
