MU vs UTSA....

Cusa and the Marshall online viewing capabilities are a joke. The link on stadium is crashing every 5 seconds. I am just about to turn over to the other link of the game on the other side of the stadium.

Looks like MT may be headed to the NIT.
As of Friday morning, Joe Lunardi has MTSU getting an at-large spot and an 11 seed. He picks ODU to win the CUSA tournament and getting a 13 seed (and playing 4-seed WVU in the 1st round). Of course, there are still 3 more days of hoops to shake things up. Lunardi has his critics, but there are few with better NCAA prediction histories.

MTSU is getting bailed out right now by their strength of schedule and RPI. They need as many bubble teams as possible to lose early in their tournaments as well.

There is a pretty real chance that CUSA could end up with 2 in the NCAA tournament and 1 in the NIT... That's a good year for the league.

Nitpick, Lunardi makes no effort to pick winners of conferences in that situation. He just "plugs in" the highest remaining seed. He is not actually saying he thinks ODU, or anybody else, is going to win. Just that if it goes "chalk" this is where the "chalk" team would end up.

True.

If there aren't many more upsets, I'd say your scenario is more likely than not. There is also a chance for a 4 vs 13 matchup that involves two schools from West Virginia. Just throwing that out there...

There is a TON more basketball to be played.

For WVU, I see them as a 5-seed right now. If they can win out in the "Big" 12 they can probably move to a 4, and/or get sent for a de facto home series in Pittsburgh, or at least to Charlotte or Detroit. Most all of the "bracketology" gurus have them sent out west to Boise or San Diego right now.

For MU, obviously we have to win out to get in. Probably a 14 seed. That is a little low to end up in the WVU bracket, and the NCAA is not really in that business too much any more. For a team coming off a 30 year drought, worrying about an opponent is too much to worry about. Should be happy to be there and hope to remain on this side of the Mississippi. 14 would mean something like Michigan State in Detroit or Tennessee or Auburn, posibably in Nashville.

As to such set ups, the ones that work out about right, math wise, are UK versus either Murray State (already in) or WKU, should they win CUSA. If put in Nashville, it becomes the hottest ticket of the first week. Others would be UNC (fake degrees) versus UNC-Greensboro, perhaps in Charlotte; Cincinnati or Xavier versus Wright State; or placing Wichita State and Kansas; and/or Ohio State and Cincy or Xavier in the same region towards the second weekend.
