It has absolutely nothing to do with recruiting. Many schools really don't recruit during the season in terms of having coaches go to Friday night games. Many head coaches want their assistants around their players the night before a game.
Okie State does a great job recruiting Texas and Oklahoma. They don't have a single player on their roster from Alabama, and they aren't looking to change that.
This game was all about money. They got a 2-1 deal that will only cost them $625,000 for the entire series. Most schools buy the away game out, but OSU doesn't do that.
In recent years, they've gone to Central Michigan, Troy, Boca Raton, and Lafayette. They aren't going to those locations to play a game for any recruiting purposes.
