The Big 12 goes 2-4 in the first round with losses to #9, 11, 12, and 14 seeds (all upsets). The 2 wins came against #13 and 15 seeds. Just like the SEC in football, these guys play and beat each other all year yet remain ranked in the top 15 (and get in to the tourney without thought) because they are obviously really really good because they can beat each other....

Someone among us is a great graphic artist -- they just didn't make Huggy's gut big enough. Glug! Glug! Glug!

Maybe we shouldn't talk trash about a consistent NCAA tournament contender who has made us scream Uncle the last few years on the court and pretty much told us our basketball program sucks so bad we aren't even worthy of an easy early-season victory on their schedule anymore

When all Huggy's bad habits finally catch up with him (he does look right ashen at times, and appeared drained after SFAU got done with him), I'll bet he'll lie in state at the capitol rotunda. A yellow convoy of school busses from Wirt County of Elizabeth and other northern Mountaineer strongholds and outposts will dutifully wend their way south to Charleston. Look for a Wal-Mart run on WVU gear, so all the U-SPAM ites can solemnly file by his bier and properly pay their respects...

Well, if it came up on my TV that Thuggie had a fatal heart attack or stoke, was picked up (again) blind drunk on his way from a casino, or the the NCAA just backed up the paddy wagon to the big jello mould (built, de-asbestosed, and twice remodeled at 100% state taxpayer expense) and hauled everybody away, I would not be any more surprised than I am by the sun coming up tommorrow.

But, assuming none of those things happen, remember history. The two esentual things to remember about USPAM are that its fans are so delusional that eventually they become dissatisfied with whatever product they are given. "9-3 is not acceptable." And, the administraton (not just in sports but in all things) chews up people that care about it and spits them out.

Bobby Bowden sucessfully transitoned USPAM from a small college to a mid-major, while saddled with a dump stadium no one could get to in pre-interstates WV. He got run off. Fat Donnie took that mid-major and made it one of the better mid-major teams of its era, albeit by playing the easiest of schedules. He got run off. Crazy Gale kept a WVU team afloat, again playing a diet of small colleges, and made the tournament fairly regularly. For his trouble he was goaded into joining the old Big East and rewarded with a nervous breakdown and an uncermonoious teatment of "Gale, Gale who? " by the current crowd. Van Zant, a state native, had a reasonable baseball team, to the extent that anyone cares, and got fired. And, of course, there is Bill Stewart. Who was more or less murdered via a broken heart because "9-3 is not acceptable."

Eventually the fact that this WVU season, and the next and the next and the next will end as every WVU season ever has, with the basketball team walking off in defeat, will cause the delusionals to push out Thuggie for the next genius.

Because these idiots ACTUALLY BELIEVE that they belong in the same converstaion as the teams of actual national significance.

Since my team is in the Sweet Sixteen, I will pick up the torch...

was real surprised they didn't throw some quarters at the SFA coaches...maybe not too large a contingent in attendance.. Did the opposing bench have face shields or something?

It is but that is all most of these people have (especially SAM!).

Two different discussions.

- Is WVU in a vastly better basketball situation than MU? Of course. It is silly to argue otherwise.

- Does WVU actually occupy the lofty position among basketball's true elite to which its delusional fans agrandize it to? No. Laughable. WVU had a nice season, finishing second (although probably really about the 3rd or 4th best team) in a major conference. Once. Is it Kentucky? Kansas? UCLA? UNC? Duke? Georgetown? Ohio State? Indiana? Texas? On a long term basis? No. It had a good year. Once. Rather than be happy with that, the Spamies ACTUALLY BELIEVE that they belong among the historic elite, just as they do in football. It is sad really.

In any event, can Marshall fans laugh at people who ACTUALLY BELIEVED that they were going to win "that there national champieeneship" getting, once again, that cold douche of reality? Sure.

Funny, maybe you shouldn't go to their smack board and tell them how good our football team is and its 160th ranked schedule and how they fear Doc. All the while boasting about recruiting rankings, and coaches polls. We have beat them in basketball, and I don't think we ever had a bball choke job like Doc did in 2010 in football.

Spamites have a certain mythological idiocy about Doc. "Well, he is really a recruiter and not a head coach, blah, blah, blah." It is part of their fixation upon all things Marshall, but also due to the fact that he got away from them. They cannot stand to see that.

Well, SamC, I'm glad for Marshall's sake that Doc is a better "recruiter" than the Spamites boy, Hungoveragain, is an "offensive guru"!!!!

obviously...
The Big 12 went 3-4 in the first round, not 2-4. And each of those 3 winners advanced to the Sweet 16. Two to the Elite 8, and 1 to the Final Four. How many conferences did better than that? Even with the "poor" showing in the NCAA tournament, the Big 12 still had the highest out of conference winning percentage in Div 1 this season.
