As practice draws near what can we expect from our starting QB? Can anyone tell us has he:
1. Developed more arm strength to throw more than 15 yards downfield?
2. Matured as a leader - if not for the team but at least for the offense?
3. Will he have improved on reading opponents defenses?
4. Has he learned to pick up blitzes better?
5. Do we have absolutely any quarterback on this team that is better?

I doubt anybody on here knows the answer to any of those questions....but in before those answers start rolling in.

Green’s arm strength is not the problem. He can’t make a lot of throws with touch and accuracy plus he’s slow reading the defense.

Agreed, he made some nice deep throws last year. Physically, I think he is more than capable... His issues appear to be between his ears... The question is can Cramsey and our coaches improve his ability to pick things up faster. Maybe even to a point where he could call an audible *gasp* when its 3rd and 9 and the play is called to run Knox into the middle of the MF'n line. (Still pissed how many times we did that last season instead of attempting to throw for a first down).

Green has some pretty poor mechanics. Add that to the issues between the ears, and you get what we got last year......bad offense led by a bad QB..

IMO if Green up's his game to his potential I really believe the 2020 team is going to shock people. If he doesn't i see another 8-4

If you see 8 wins on our schedule next year I want a toke...
why not? The schedule is more or less the same. We have most of the team back.We laid an egg and lost to two teams last yr we should have beaten .I have no idea what we will do but it sure as crap is not a stretch to assume we might duplicate last years record this year. Like I said, it depends on QB play.

1. As mentioned already, Green's issue is not arm strength, it's more a accuracy issue due in part to his mechanics. I have not heard anything about his progress in this area but his lack of progress from his FR to SO year leaves me skeptical.

2. Yes. I have it on good authority that Green has made strides in this area. He is now more willing to listen to his teammates, and also better at accepting the blame when he makes a mistake. Not saying he's perfect, just improved. And yes, his maturity was piss-poor when he got here so improvement may still mean he has a way to go. But it is progress.

3. No way to know if his skills in reading defenses has improved until he's in game situations. And spring ball will only give a clue as to where he is. Sorry, but just going to have to wait on this one.

4. Same.

5. Maybe. But any QB we have on our roster now will have to go through a huge learning-curve. Sometimes it's worth putting up with the inexperience-mistakes, sometimes not. I don't think even the coaching staff could answer this question right now.

Great...your optimism is going to set this board off...

You missed one...

I'd make this team play in a monsoon for most of spring ball if it were possible. Just get a few fire hoses and shower the field constantly when they practice or just them.

This team's Kryptonite is rain.

I can appreciate your optimism, but our schedule is much more difficult than last year... We could easily go 1-3 in the nonconference and its unlikely La. Tech will have three starters suspended this year including their QB... Its just as, or probably more likely, MU is 2-5 at homecoming. Luckily, the back end of our schedule is filled with awful teams.

Also, we have a lot of holes to fill on defense. And having players back on offense is nice, but there are zero proven WRs and a giant question mark at QB.

Marshall winning 8 games next year would be over achieving.

Real question is whether Wells will get any chance to run plays, including pass plays, with the first team unit!!
Grant Wells has the ability to be a leader, plus he is not Afraid to run the ball. Give the kid a chance.
