I'm not sure I'd agree with this though I guess we'd have to define far left and far right.
My perception is the far left controls the universities which control culture...which is up stream from politics. They have power in institutions even though they are barely (and often not) winning elections.
Far right to me are back woods mouth breathers with no control over capital or institutions. But if you define Trump as "far right" even though he spent us into oblivion and is fine with gay marriage....
I would say the beliefs of AOC or Tlaib or Bernie more align with the heads of higher ed than the beliefs of say MTG over any institution with any sort of power.
I think the biggest danger to the U.S. is the govt, media, major tech institutions, and higher ed being in lock step in shutting down discourse and controlling narrative. The Gated Institutional Narrative or Distrubuted Idea Suppession Complex if you will.
