Thank you Chief Justice

The 9th does have an extremely well known bias. Supreme Courts frequently rule along political divide. And Roberts was the reason Obamacare passed (ironically Obama voted against Roberts for purely political reasons after acknowledging he was imminently qualified.) The guy bent over backwards in his ruling to find a way to allow it to happen.

The 9th circuit is a danger to this country.

The ruling on Obamacare was an abomination to the very foundation of this country.

Correct. It isn't proof that you're a pedophile, but the fact that you have a picture on your computer of your "grandson" naked in the tub and that you "accidentally" posted it sure does raise some questions.

You keep saying that like it happened. It did not. You're usually an honest guy I don't know why you keep lying about this.

We became a nation to rebuke a king....and the government established was designed to insure there is no king of the US which is why we have three equal branches of govt.

Trump talks like he's a dictator....like he's going to make changes to the judiciary of which he has no control - again, by constitutional design.

You rarely hear the Supremes speak out on political issues....but Trump 's bizarre statements were treading on the Constitution - a document he swore to uphold. Roberts statement was short, to the point and let Trump know they aren't his subordinates.

Oh Good Lord. Trump with etiher be in office 4 years or 8. One way or another he will not be there longer. He is not a dictator nor close to it. His words were not treading on the Constitution for heaven's sake. They were words. He has to power to change the Supreme Court or just do what he wants to do.

Here you go. FDR, the Democrat Icon, sparred with the Supreme Court.

Many presidents sparred with the supreme court. Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson had some tussles with John Marshall.

But it was Trump's statement, "it's not gonna happen like this anymore"....along with "Obama judges" that drew today's comments from Roberts.

His statement was what I would expect from a lawyer. What he says is true, judges aren't political. What he also knows is that politicians appoint judges that most closely share their social and political stances. Since judges are also human, their bias based on their views influences their rulings and opinions. If Clarence Thomas and RBG both read the exact same passage in the Constitution, having both been educated at the same universities by the same professors, how can they come up with such diverse opinions of what that passage means if not for personal bias and beliefs?

The difference in personal bias and beliefs is essentially all politics really is.

True . However, there are times even "conservative" judges interpretation of the constitution can be "liberal". Justice Warren Burger was appointed by Eisenhower, and his court rendered some of the most controversial judgements in history - however, they were interpreting the constitution...not implementing their personal beliefs.

Legally sparred. Congress has the power to say how many justices. It was a bad idea because it was blatantly politically motivated to empower the executive branch, but hell if Congress wants 9, 3, or 100 it is up to them.

The Constitution only works because we agree that it does. I've often wondered what would happen if a POTUS said fvck it and didn't leave office. It could be ugly.

They would be locked up.

I understand what Chevy is saying, but agree with herdman that our constitution won’t fail us and Trump will leave office at the end of his term(s) without fuss. I think DT taking on Roberts is more a testament of that being the only way he knows how to do things than it is an assault on our checks and balances. Our constitution is much stronger than any president. Trump’s style has always been demonizing anyone who stands between him and getting his way. I don’t think we can see this as an assault against our separation of powers so much as a display of his lack of decorum.

I really don’t think DT even wants to stay as president. His sated ego and sense of legacy intact, he’ll be happy to proclaim himself the greatest ever and be content with hitting the links and sending out daily series of tweets reminding people of his greatness and criticizing everyone that he considers a threat to his world view.

I am not sure Trump will even run for reelection. Honestly, why would he want to?

He is rich and doesn't need to. Half of American wants a Nanny state. They also want someone to coddle them and kiss the ass of foreign countries. They want open borders and the President to run around making them feel fuzzy. They really don't want a President they want a kind old Uncle who hands them a $1 when they visit and tell them how great they are.

If I were him, I would say hell with it and would go off to my own wealth.

Let the country hire a token speaker again.

I couldn’t imagine how much pressure and stress there is with being president. As the oldest 1st term president ever elected, two terms would certainly take a toll. But I can’t imagine him not running again. The power of the position has to be intoxicating.

Whether he runs for a second term or not will depend entirely on whether he has finished the job, or not. MAGA

Roberts should have kept mouth shut. The 9th is overturned at about an 80% rate because they are leftist hacks that don’t follow constitution.

Where was Roberts statement when Obama rebuked Alito in state of union.

Democrats have far more money than Republicans.

If fact, I saw where the modern Democrat Party is like the old blue bloods. Rockefeller, Vanderbilts, etc. The money is not in industry anymore but tech companies(Google, Facebook, Apple, etc.) and their ownership are all pretty much liberal Democrat leaning.

The report said the Democrats have far more money than the Republicans in terms of elections and campaigns.

Sooner or later people are going to realize that the Democrats are the party of the rich and the GOP are for the people who work hard to make this country run

my post was in response to Trump's intentions to run for re-election. His ego won't allow him to step down. Compare his war chest to Obama's at this point of their presidency. This 100K is only for Trump... Not the entire republican party.

sooner or later republicans are going to realize that trump - his lies and childish behavior - are costing the party members, votes and, yes, donations.

But, then again, maybe they won't.

Glad you finally figured it out. Globalist and elitist claiming to want to help poor and accusing republicans of being for the rich. Can’t spell LIberal without LIE

Donald Trump's 2020 fundraising haul is totally and completely unprecedented

From the above article:

In three less months of fundraising, Trump has raked in more than 26.5 times what Obama had raised for his re-election race and 32 times what Bush had raised.

Trump (fundraising through 9/30/2018)
Raised: $106 million
Cash on hand: $35 million

Barack Obama (fundraising through 12/31/2010)
Raised: $4 million
Cash on hand: $2.3 million

George W. Bush (fundraising through 12/31/2002)
Raised: $3.2 million
Cash on hand: $3.8 million

Not his fault that so many support The Magnificient Orange Emperor.
True. But you generally don't put forth a record-setting performance if you don't intend to run. Also, this isn't some sort of casual, "business as usual" effort.
