Let's be honest: "Religious Right" is a more apt descriptor, as the majority practice a religiosity of nationalism, militarism, white pride, theocracy, capitalism, and the worship of wealth...none of which has much to do with Christianity. This is especially so in this age of Prosperity Gospel.

But there are plenty of surveys and polls from the election that could lead to your comment being accurate. 67% of white voters without a degree went with cheeto. Clinton won all voters with a college degree. cheeto won all voters without a college degree. When it comes to postgraduate degrees, Clinton won by an even bigger margin.
No matter how you look at it, the more educated you are, the more likely you were to vote for Clinton.

That is so false. Book sense vs common sense. We had a whole flock of college kids work summers. A lot were going for an engineering degree. Laziest bunch you ever seen. Usually the first thing they would say getting into my drill was "No way could I ever run this. Way too many levers and buttons. The good ones were the ones who got right in there and worked and didn't worry about getting their hands dirty. I saw no difference in young guys in college or just some kid who didn't go to college. You find out in the real world a lot of what you learned is useless. That's hard to admit after spending so much to get smart in 4 yrs. I wish I could have went to college. Graduated on a Friday and started on Monday. Best job anywhere near this area. In the 70's going to college was not talked to us like they should have. All the democrats I know other than teachers I know never went to college. What percentage of the democrats went to college vs republican folk? I would guess its not close. So when bashing folk who didn't go to college is bashing a whole lot of your own. Intelligence is God given not a piece of paper. I could, for example, expand on the differences in various US Christian churches and political leanings. For example, I would assume (since you seem to not want to really discuss this) homosexuality is one of your dividing lines in this "cultural war". For fvcks sake, your "religious right" is still bitching about this. Yet American Catholics peg the meter at 70% saying homosexuals should be accepting into society. Hell, 65% of ALL Christians believe this. These numbers are available from Pew. I could also point out the secular right is of a fairly substantial number....hell, I did point that out and you sputtered. Things are not as black and white as "secular left" and "Christian right", part of which I noted in what the actual "religious right" espouses...unless we are talking about the smaller numbers that actually act that way politically. Neither can statistically explain Trump's victory, especially given no one in those two groups were voting the other way to begin with. But both are loud, like a braying ass.

Here is an interesting study on party affiliation shifts among the non-college degreed and those with degrees. What is interesting is the shift after 2008, especially among whites. "Whites with no college experience have become 14 points more likely to affiliate with the GOP since 2008, including a six-point shift over the last four years." Since 2008...I wonder what happened in 2008 that they didn't care for....

I agree with Obama's statement when taken in whole. It explains a great deal of the rise of Trump. And people will still be bitter when Trump doesn't bring back their jobs in four or eight years.
If you really don't think white bigots exist, if you don't think they were turned off by a black POTUS, and if you really don't think they voted for Trump, you probably shouldn't discuss American culture and politics. It doesn't mean YOU are a bigot, but the numbers on this do not lie.
