TIME TO RE-DISTRIBUTE THE WEALTH

Not the point. Why is it a billionaires responsibility to look out for you. Why is how much money someone has providing they obtained it legally your concern?

As a person who has been fiscally conservative all of his life I agree with that to a degree. In a free society we should be able to pursue wealth legally. But where I start having a problem is when the wealth is used to shift all the rules in their favor at the detriment of society. For example the tobacco industry. The dangers of tobacco was known decades before meaningful change was implemented and the industry admitted culpability. But the super wealthy spent billions of dollars funding think tanks that hired scientist to sew seeds of doubt and obsfucate the issue so they could continue to profit while people were dying.

The same thing is going on with other industries as well. Billions are being spent in lobby to throw money at and influence the decision making of our legislators. Then they find themselves in the position that if they want to be re-elected they need to become the paid shill of these billionaires who simply want dealt all the aces so they can rake the pot.

So I’m all for people getting rich...even filthy rich. But I certainly don’t want them to rig the very system I’m participating in.

GK I get it and I totally understand and I agree with you but that ship sailed a long time ago. In both major parties the people who write the biggest checks set the policy. It’s like that in every fiber of our society. Setting a ridiculous tax policy against the wealthy is not going to fix any of it.

If done right, a higher tax rate on the rich and closing some loopholes would get more money back into circulation for use by other people. I don't care if the rich make a billion dollars a day, as long as they spend most of it, and here in the U S.
