If we win the next two are we assured at least an NIT bid

Geezer - You are outside your lane. Your strength does not include put downs & jabs at fellow Marshall fans. Any reference to Hitler is unnecessary & goes over most posters heads, since you are referencing someone from 80 years ago!
Why ? someone’s affinity for the Herd? We all are fanatics or we wouldn’t make the effort to engage in this forum. Just because you’re old doesn’t make you the grand poohbah on here!
If you step outside yourself, you will see how juvenile it looks.
Just sayin’ - WS
Again, not sure you understand the context of the Hitler quote. It is a well known quote that is frequently used to show that one good effort is meaningless if everything else you do is horrible. If someone is not educated enough to recognize the relevance of the quote, that is his problem.

As far as jabs as fellow posters, you have read enough of my posts to know I discuss and kid and I’m not known for attacking anyone. However, like Trump, I’m a counterpuncher. I’m not going to let some undereducated hayseed call me stupid because he doesn’t like my post and not respond.

My Dad has a saying from way back:
“Don’t confuse me with facts; my mind’s made up.”
That is you right now. Go outside. Take a walk. Listen to the birds. Be thankful for another day above ground. Negative energy is bad for your health!!

Maybe you should go back and read what led up to all this. The discussion had devolved into playing the Morgantown school in post season. One poster said he hated Huggins but admitted the man could coach. I replied with the often used quote about Hitler making the trains run on time. The meaning being that just because Huggins and Hitler had done one good thing, it counted for little in the big picture. I was hardly comparing Huggins to Adolf Hitler.

Cam Clueless was the one responding with slurs and name calling. Couldn’t let that go. If that bothers you that much, put me on ignore though I will miss your insights.

Let the members decide. If I am in error, I’ll leave for good.

I understand you’re angry today. Pulling a double shift at the Dairy Queen can be upsetting so I’ll let it pass.
I understand you're angry as well, having nothing to do today because Bingo at the nursing home isn't until Thursdays has to be frustrating. Maybe Karen from room 6 will share her yogurt with you today.

The “Hitler made the trains run on time” reference is a common one that implies that just because a person does one good thing, it doesn’t make up for all the bad he did. Of course I doubt you stayed awake in any history class you took long enough to learn about that quote
It's "Mussolini made the trains run on time" not Hitler. That's a common saying. I've never heard anyone except you say "Hitler made the trains run on time." The Germans never had a problem with their trains, the far less competent Italians did.

You seem to know a lot about nursing homes. Are you secretly entering at night and giving the residents sponge baths?

Perhaps Hitler, nor Mussolini, are the best analogy. Both were murderous socialist dictators. Socialism kills.

A better analogy for Huggins is any failed bum on skid row. Huggins is very smart and was a good athlete. He had more potential to be a contributing member of society than most people. He chose to be a fat drunken abusive prick who exploits his players, and who, in a lifetime as a journeyman coach at insignificant programs has walked off the court at the end of every year the same way. As a loser.

Placing him in a hall of fame is laughable. Its like honoring the bullpen catcher who hung on in the Bigs for 25 years on crappy teams. Longevity as a loser make you a loser.

I still stand by my statement that his dismissal from Cincinnati should have been the end of his coaching career.

I would actually put Jake Taylor in the hall of fame. As well as Roger Dorn.. just sayin

It should have been. Honorable teams would have no part of him. He moved down to Kansas State, then screwed them over to move down to WVU. Neither honorable programs.

Just look at WVU's unqualified president. Total liar and crook.

The older generations of fans from both schools seem to dislike one another. But I think that has cooled off considerably. The last two or three generations of fans….I don’t really see that culture between the two.

The first time I heard the quote, it was attributed to Hitler. That was incorrect and as you have noted, it was Mussolini. The main point is the same. Just because a bad person does a good thing it doesn’t take away all his horrible behavior.

Thanks for the correction. I try to learn at least one new thing each day. Since I have now checked that off, I can go take a nap.

Exactly. I don't think anyone under 35 even gives a crap about the other school. You have to be part of historical rivalries to care about someone else. I HATE Miami, OH. But half the students at Marshall right now probably have barely even heard of them. If you ask WVU players about their rival with Marshall, do you think they give two shits? Of course not. If you ask Marshall players about the "chance to beat WVU" do you think it gets them more hyped than any other Big 12 school? Highly unliklely. In fact I think Herd players would rather have the opportunity to beat a Kansas than to care about WVU.

I want to see them play in the best tournament possible as well. But if we dont get in the NCAA, or into the NIT, and the CIT/CBI is the next best tournament available, then I want to play in that one.
Serious question did we hang a banner for the CIT win with Elmore? I personally think we should acknowledge it in some way. I guess displaying the trophy might be enough.

There is a banner hanging for the CIT title

Huggins' deal is he is Teflon in Morgenhell and he knows it. He is just padding his retirement fund for as long as he wants. He was a good coach at UC, KState and his early years at WVU. Now he's just collecting paychecks. He's worshipped by most eerdiot fans and no administrator is every going to fire him. Especially after making the HoF.

Hey, BleedsGreen33, just remember that ole Huggy Bear is ALWAYS just ONE Bad Call away, against his band of hooligans, in the next B1G 12 game, next Tourney game, etc., from what ole Red Foxx's "Fred G. Sanford" would call "The Big One, Eizabeth"!!!;);)

With the way he's gained weight and how much he drinks I'm shocked he hasn't.

Essentially, evidence you can fail upwards...

What it tells me is they allow some idiots to de-rail the topic at hand.
Ummm, appears that with "Captain" Danny D. at the wheel, he and his team all on their own have not only "derailed" the "topic" but more importantly Marshall's men's basketball program and landed it firmly and squarely in the middle of a sewer plant sludge pond!!

Ya might wanna worry about Texas St before worrying about WVU

I would not mind seeing this team take the court in the CIT or CBI. Honestly, those teams are going to be closer to equal peer groups, for this team, than the NIT.

Maybe. But lets go across the Big Sandy and make an analogy. Kentucky is very mediocre and Louisville is dog s***. Probably there are fans of Eastern, Western, Northern, Murray, and even Morehead, who think that, this year, maybe they could beat either one. I, for one, would take most anybody in the country over Louisville.

But that doesn't change the fact that UK is in the SEC and UL is in the ACC.

Yeah, could the best MU team in a decade (and not saying that this one is, really cannot know, haven't played any body) have a puncher's chance against the worst WVU team in the same time period? Sure. But WVU has moved up to a different level and we have stayed behind. We used to be piers, and we used to have a chance every year. Actually, we were slightly higher level than them for most of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Its over. Move on. Whining about WVU and fixating on WVU makes us look like ECU or Appy. All ate up with "little brother" syndrome. We are better than that.
60s, 70s and 80s? WVU had Rod Thorn and Fritz Williams in the 60s, went to NCAA tourney's. The 70s were crap but the 80s? You think just because you won a few games against Catlett that made you an even program? Catlett had 20 win seasons 7 years in a row and made the NCAA's a few years and won a conf title.
All you do is lie about WVU. Marshall had some great ones in the past too but the program as a whole, I don't see where Marshall was ever on WVU's level. Even the early 60s was the tail end of the 20 years of being 1 and 2 with Kentucky as the top program in the country.
But you're right, stop fixating on WVU because some of you people still have that WVU hatred where I think you'd be happier with WVU's total demise over seeing Marshall thrive academically and athletically.

wvu politically, actively goes out of their way to make MU deteriorate while destroying the state and being an academic and athletic laughingstock of the college world...and really, the world in general.
