Tuesday Night MACtion

Two pretty solid games tonight. Bowling Green has a chance to get bowl eligible and keep their East Division hopes alive with a win but.... plays West leader Toledo. East Division leader Ohio plays at West current second place Ball State. A Bowling Green win and an Ohio loss creates a 3-way tie at the top of the East with Buffalo and makes next weekend's Bowling Green/Ohio game the defacto East championship game.

Public health

Is screwed. Rumors swirling CDC about to add Covid vax to kids immunization schedule…then states often will mandate it.

People won’t get regular vaccines because of this. Sunken cost fallacy.

Name another disease we vaccinate for after youve had it.

Also this isn’t recommend in Europe. It isnt settled science. It doesn’t stop transmission and kids rarely are hospitalized…so what exactly are you preventing here by vaccination?

We will see measles and polio come back because they’re so bad on this stuff.

Marshall vs Georgia Southern - Tale of the Tape

Georgia Southern brings in a pretty good offense but a really lousy defense. Clay Helton's group throws the ball all over the yard and have had surprisingly good results considering this was an option offense since the beginning of time. Quarterback Kyle Vantrease is a good facilitator of the football and this is NOT the first time we've played against him as he was Buffalo's starting QB in the 2020 Camillia Bowl. He gets rid of the ball early and often (only sacked 4 times all season on 472 drop backs - roughly once every 118 drop backs!) This is Vantrease's 6th year of college football. With so few negative plays and relatively low penalties per game they do a good job of staying on schedule and conversely they have the 12th best 3rd Down offense in the country converting almost 50%.
Defensively, they're bad at every level and in every category. Their points per game allowed would be worse than it is except their offense is able to sustain drives and keep the other team on the sidelines. Opponents are picking up almost 7 yards per play against the Eagles. This should be a game where our run game gets back on track.
Helton has a good staff and will pick apart our weaknesses but I think our defense can hold them down, contain their run game with the front 4, and we should be able to go up and down the field against their defense. However, we'll have to capitalize in the Red Zone. Georgia Southern has the 11th best Red Zone defense in the country (24 TDs in 34 Red Zone trips). The good news is teams are getting to the Red Zone A LOT against them (34 Red Zone trips in 10 games is nearly double what we've allowed - 18).

Men’s soccer tournament

MU plays at Elon November 17th, winner will play at #4 seed Virginia November 20th.

Sun Belt champion Kentucky is the #1 seed overall and will play the winner of Hofstra @ South Florida.

As a footnote the last ever CUSA champions, FIU, are the #10 seed. FIU will be the lone men’s soccer school left in CUSA and will join the SBC for men’s soccer next year.

Trump needs to step away

He had a good run for four years, even with the fake news and deep state against him.

Great accomplishments for the most part.

Moving forward, he needs to enjoy the remainder of his life. Thinking if he simply says he's not running, most of his legal woes will go away. That's why most of this stuff is going on anyways, just to keep him from being able to run.

He has no chance of winning a general election race. None, none whatsoever. My wife is a staunch conservative Amish woman, and even she said last night she wouldn't vote for Trump. There's millions of conservative women just like her, and there's many more Independent women that wouldn't vote for Trump. The numbers simply won't be there for him, and then you add in all the liberals that maybe wouldn't vote, well those people will go vote against Trump if he's running. Would be a landslide win for the Democrats, even if they ran some crazy woman like Harris, or even Bernie would beat him.

No gauge

There is absolutely no way to gauge what the quality of this years team is.

-Beat Notre Dame who has been allowed to crawl back into the Top 25 after beating Clemson soundly.

-Lost to BGSU who just got smacked by Kent State 40-6.

-Had solid efforts vs. Troy, Louisiana and Coastal and those losses are primarily on the shoulders of the offense.

-Put up 25 points on ND but could only muster 12 vs. ODU. OLine looked really good and yet the offense was still unable to get a touchdown.

App State coming to town this weekend, can we score enough to win? Will the defense be able to keep up the unreal campaign of pain they’ve been on this year? I don’t particularly like the comments from our coach that seemed to allude to a disdain for having a “tough” opponent for the memorial game. Will the team be focused in the same way Doc’s teams were for this one?
