Hamrick/Holiday

Neither are going to resign/retire/be fired. The university President seems to be totally satisfied with the level of mediocrity the football program has lowered itself to. Sadly both Hamrick and Holiday will not be remembered for the positives but more for the things that we hoped would be accomplished like winning CUSA in football. In my opinion the future does not look any better and we are facing another good OOC schedule. Hamrick will be remembered for raising funds for new athletic facilities but a failure in coaching hires. Holiday will be remembered for the winning seasons and bowl victories but failing to win the East division let alone CUSA championships in an exceedingly weak conference. Look for more of the same next year. Go Herd and Merry Christmas to all.

Historic (in a bad way)

I don’t love to call out individuals, but I think this is noteworthy:

We’ve failed to hit 50% through the air for 3 straight games. I bet it’s been close to 30 years since that’s happened to Marshall football. In this era, that is an amazing stat and the number one reason why everyone is so disappointed. We built the program on the arms of great QBs. It’s what people miss even more than winning conference titles.

The other amazing and somewhat positive thing: aside from 3-4 players, we’re really not that far from UCF. Just have to find a coach who can get you those 3-4 guys like we had in 13 and 14.

With that, I yield my time.

Keep Doc If?

Get a damn QB. Green is not the answer nor was he the question. Move on man, bullshit. We need a QB. If Doc wants Green I’m done with this sideshow. I know Doc wants or needs another year for maybe a state retirement. If he thinks Green is the answer then maybe he should teach show choir or drivers Ed at HHS. For one year. Totally tired of be middle of the pack. Hamrick could possibly buy season tickets, for Docs show choir, or take a driver Ed course. as I see lots of football fans signing OFF

Ouch!

Write up on the starting bowl QBs.

71 . Isaiah Green, Marshall
Thundering Herd

Year: Sophomore

A passing grade below 70.0 is pretty much a
death knell for us, especially if it comes against
C-USA competition. With a 66.2 passing grade
this year and three games with under 100
passing yards, Green isn't on the radar.

2019 Football Season

So what if we were predicted to win C-USA East? So what if we were predicted to win C-USA? So what if we lost to a bad MTSU team by double digits? So what if the attendance at the FIU game will be outdrawn by Herd basketball games? So what if we lost to Charlotte by double digits? So what if we were the biggest underdog in a bowl game this season? So what if we couldn’t even cover an 18 point spread? .....forgot where I was going with this, it was obviously a wonderful season worthy of another extension.

Yes, we had injuries. Yes, we had poor weather for some games. Yes, we lost key players. You also know what, so does EVERY program in the damn country.

Hamrick needs to

seriously start thinking about trying to save what remains of the fan base. Unless Coach Stowers and Aaron are going to commit to buying 3-4,000 season tickets each my guess is numbers are going to continue to decline and it could be dramatic.

More than anything, Marshall fans want offense. Losing two games this year while only scoring 13 in each, losing one by only scoring 7, having a completely inept passing game that leads to running draws most times when facing 3rd and more than 8 (and running routes short of the chains when you do throw it), punting from inside the opponents 40 - that's not the kind of football that will get, or keep, people in the stands.

At this point Hamrick needs to start getting concerned about his legacy. He is exactly what ECU fans said he was when we hired him, a good facilities AD, but a bad athletics performance AD with a poor understanding of football coaching hires. He's exactly what the UNLV fans said, good at facilities but an alienator of the fan base.

This is his alma mater, I hate for him to be remembered here the same way he is at his other stops. Hope he doesn't let his blind loyalty to John lead to his own demise. We need a fresh start.

Bowl Trip

Who all is going to the game on Monday?

Plan on leaving tomorrow. Renting a car and driving. Flying back at 5am on Christmas Eve.

We had a great time last year. We stayed at these little rustic cottages right on the beach in Treasure Island.

I need food though. Last year the only thing I had good was a meat lovers pizza somewhere. Anyone have any can’t miss grease pit type places to go?

Ride Into the Sunset

It’s funny because as I type the thread title, I misspelled Sunset for Sinset. Anyway, with Coach Doc’s last year on the arise, I project a Conference Championship with a hot new young Coach in-waiting. The Herd slogan, “We Play For Championships” will be reenergized, we finally breakout and consistently dominate Conference USA. Coach Doc will ride into the Sunset leaving on top, while leaving no doubters.
