Marshall vs Stoney Brook - Tale of the Tape

Well boys, we made it. It's game week again a little over 8 months after seeing our Herd bow out to the Road Runners in Frisco, TX.
On to Stoney Brook....
I thought going into last year's opener vs. UAlbany that it would be a good opening test for the team....and that turned out to be a little too-close-for-comfort. While I don't see this one being a nail-biter like last year, I do think this will be a good opening test. Yes, I know they went 0-10 last year and was absolutely dreadful - especially on defense. But if you look up and down Stoney Brook's roster, you see A LOT of FBS transfers for this season. Penn State, UVA, Oklahoma State, etc. I'm guessing those aren't just guys who walked on and then left. There are some legitimate difference makers in there. I noticed Chance Knox is now there - from Capital High and then caught 140 balls at VMI before landing at Stoney Brook.
Their new HC was the OC at Western Michigan last year so I expect to see a very similar offense. Their new DC Scott Lewis was the DC at Saint Francis (PA), a FCS program that ranked in the top 20 last year in most categories.
Below are the per game averages for the two programs from last season - you can probably throw this in the garbage because I know we're a completely different team this year vs. last and I'm assuming the Seawolves are as well. If nothing else, this is a nice postmortem of last year. The Stoney Brook rankings are out of 122 FCS teams.

Useless Posters

5) KYJelly: The guy tries so hard, but he just doesn’t have it. Hell, even when I brainstormed for this list, I didn’t think of him until after I first posted it, because he is so unforgettable. But his effort keeps him from the bottom of this list.

4) Crispy Lips: The guy, frankly, is socially inept. He doesn’t catch on to things that every other person does. But, he’s not a bad guy, and every great while he will post something that people actually care to read, but again, that’s “every great while.”

Most concerning is that he has been mocked so much on here, that he is now resorting to what the most pathetic and desperate of posters do on here: liking absurd posts from people in an attempt to get them to support you. Somebody could make the dumbest attempt at a jab against me, and he will like it just hoping he can find a friend.

You can guarantee some things in life. One of them is that there isn’t a cloud in the sky in Southern California:

Another is that Crispy Lips will start multiple threads in a day that get absolutely no response:

3) MUTHED: This guy only posts in response to me or about me. It’s as odd of a thing as we have ever seen on here, and that’s saying a lot, because we have had some weirdos. The fact that he doesn’t post a lot pushes him down the list, so he’s not as useless as the others below:

2) Jartard: I don’t know what has happened over the last six months, but this guy has fallen hard. He frequently posts outlandish and bogus tweets that reasonable people would know aren’t accurate. He frequently posts threads about something that has already been posted. His attempts at taking jabs or shit-talking is as bad as any poster on this board. He’s only surviving on fumes from his very average posting history in the past.

1) 1988: The guy has been called out by people on his own side. He is the epitome of cringe, as he tries to buddy up to people he thinks will accept his sucking up and defend him. He likes the dumbest posts made by others in an attempt to get people to interact with him on here, but that has been a monumental failure. He brings absolutely no value to the board and is just a drive-by poster with no redeeming quality to his posts.

His posts aren’t educating. They aren’t entertaining nor humorous. They aren’t quick-witted. They aren’t even quality discussion. He brings absolutely no value to this board, and he continues his reign as the most useless poster.

Need some rain

I went out at 6am this morning to plant a tree. It was over 90 degrees yesterday and you can’t work manual labor outside in that kind of weather. The ground is bone dry and as hard as concrete. We are definitely in a mild drought.

Leaves are already starting to change. I wish we could have a couple more months of a mild summer. Of course, after planting that tree, I also wish I was 25 years old again.

Have a good morning!

I forgot about this transfer- the wrong way...

Just like in 1988, he'll face perhaps the nation's best kick returner; this time it's Jayden Harrison, a Marshall transfer who took two back for scores last season when he was the only FBS player to average more than 30 yards per return with at least 20 chances.

If you got FIVE QBs do you have any QBs?

I don't pay for premium content so forgive me for bringing up stale news.

MetroNews reports:
Head Coach Charles Huff says a battle between returnees Cole Pennington and Colin Paracheck along with Tulsa transfer Braylon Braxton and freshman JacQai Long has benefitted the entire team....
Another new name has entered the competition in Stone Earle, a recent addition to the program.
Earle, who left North Texas in June, presents an interesting case in his quest for snaps. He has experience running an Air Raid attack from his days with the Mean Green.

9 days before the opener. Maybe all these guys get some Stony Brook snaps.

Tired of football season already.

We don't have a quarterback. I think they say we have 6 of them on the roster. Brought a guy in that has been at three schools....since the first of August.

They tell us we don't have an answer at running back.

They also tell us we don't have a game breaking receiver.

All but one guy on the offensive line transfered in. So, that could be a problem. Maybe the 6th string quarterback is the smartest guy. He wants to be able to walk when he is 40.

And, the reality is not sure about the defense.

Other than we might be pretty good. But, how do you even look forward to this stuff anymore? You don't even know wha players you will have on the team year to year or even week to week anymore. Plus, when you are not predicted to be very good, it makes it even harder.

My Ohio State buddies want to give me Marshall and 35 and I don't think is enough. I am telling them I want 42, hoping they settle on 40. I have to take the bet at the end of the day or I get labeled and you totally admt your team is beyond terrible.
