............to get rid of the "hillbilly ball' and the "304" jerseys and find an assistant coach who can be the game time floor coach. Someone who can evaluate pros and cons of players and find the correct combination for the best possible chance to win. And tell them what to do on the floor.

Dan is so advanced in his ability and knowledge of the game that young guys simply cannot comprehend his genius!
Plus, gosh darn he's such a fun loving guy! I mean he's so energetic and cool with the media and fans!!! I always feel like I'm back in the past where I wanna live forever when he talks!
Its the players' fault they can't learn his system!!!

The Herd just doesn't have any shooters. I still feel a lot of fundamentals are lacking. You can't call this team young after 20+ games. We very rarely follow up a shot. We just throw it up and run to the other end. The players need to be coached on blocking out, following up on the shot and working on free throws. I think there is some talent but still lacking a strong PG.

We don’t even crash the boards. Last game only JW and Beyers had presence of mind to crash the boards and that wasn’t often.

Crashing the boards is more of a philosophy. Offensive rebounding has more to do with the defensive team screwing up or getting a lucky bounce. Teams crash on us and it leads to easy run outs for layups/dunks. We don’t give those up because we get back. There’s some give & take there.

Marko is the best board crasher we have. He may not get the rebound but his hands are always there

Why did football pop up in a BB thread ? (I guess any way to get a shot in) FB was 8-4 at end of regular season BB was 14-14 with some early cupcakes on the schedule.

I agree to an extent.
I'm going to mesh the previously stated comment about the team looking like they've never met and having to play together.
Thats a constant I've heard to describe them for weeks now...except it's, "they don't trust each other."

For all his faults, Doc having the football team run to the cemetery and memorial for the 1970 team, is a powerful approach to unifying them and allowing players to embrace an identity.

Dan has an opportunity to create something to build unity for the team and have it be an ongoing thing. A tradition. As far as I know, nothing like that exists.
Basketball, and you can blame its lackluster presence over the years, has nothing like that. But Dan, not trying to create something to gel the team together on an emotional level, is to blame for not putting anything together.

VMI not a cupcake? Football plays in the wort D1 league in the country and in a sport where over 60% of the teams get a post season game. B'ball, the league is mid pack and in a sport where less than 50% get to the post season. jmo

Exactly.
One could expect to lose some games in basketball, given the team itself, to take a step back, but this has been quite a few giant strides back...simply unable to put together consistency in competition.
Doc? Well, we all know he has his conference head scratching brain fart game or two.
