I am concerned about how this attack was done...apparently timed with the return of an American drone to the base, as we turn off our countermeasures when we are flying ours in or out. That's a big hole in our defenses we will have to figure out.

we(our military) are behind in drone technology and putting them to use. We have the good big stuff, like the Reaper, but using smaller and COTS(commercial off the shelf solutions) we lack. Partly because the Chinese dominate that low to medium end market and two there is a lot of red tape in the DOD. What are we going to do? Buy Chinese drones? Not really a good idea. We have some catching up to do. The new battlefied is different as evident by what happened and look at Ukraine/Russia. Russia has some good electronics warfare and Ukraine is using the COTS drones fairly effectively.
For the funding of counter-measures?
Because let me explain something to you, bird brain: this hole in drone defense has seriously implications well beyond the sandbox. And it doesn't matter who is CiC.

Not sure we are left with any other choice but to send one down the stove pipe of the Mullahs. Somewhere and somehow. You can't be ****ing around with our troops and killing and hurting them. Well, anyone can do COTS stuff. It's like a high tech pipe bomb (drones will be a big problem in civil unrest and revolution as well). So most of our defenses is electronic and automatic. That's why this hole in our defense is scary. It's not hard to figure out when we are taking off or landing the big stuff.
The Iranians wouldn't suck and drones wouldn't exist without Biden. Got it. Now piss off, the adults are having a conversation.
That is why, well it can be done, that if we get into a big shooting match we are going to cut the electronics off. Go old school. Right now, the average infantryman or ground troops is going to be a big target for electronics warfare. The Russians are actually pretty good at it. Didn't matter as much in the GWOT where our enemy was using Motorola radios and we could pick up what they were doing and we were using encrypted devices. Big difference when the enemy has electronics capabilities.
We are lacking in drones and their usage on the battlefield. We are getting better at it and catching up but, we need American manufacturers to get there. Chinese can't be used for that.

The soldiers were assigned to the 718th Engineer Company, 926th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade, Fort Moore, Ga.
