Herd BBall Blows Out Southern Miss

Chris + George out at least 4 weeks. Very convincing! Penava another monster game. RW is having no trouble shaking off the rust. Other thoughts?

Southern Miss is a very “small” team in terms of height and both team committed lots of turnovers. Second half the Herd continuously allowed the Southern Miss guards to drive past the Herd D all the way to rim and score. I’m sure DD will work on adjusting that for future opponents. Good win Herd and a good start in CUSA.

Don't read too much into Southern Miss... They only have 8 scholarship players this year and 10 next year due to NCAA sanctions under the previous coach.

That said, a CUSA win is a good win. Saturday's game is big. Have to win conference games at home against evenly matched opponents.

This is correct, but we did what we should have done with them. Only thing, we were not evenly matched. We were clearly the better basketball team with the better basketball players up and down the roster.

Southern Miss isn't very good but that's a nice win without CJ in the lineup.

Big game Saturday against Louisiana Tech! They just kicked their SG Jalen Harris off the team. Was averaging 15 ppg. Huge loss.
S. Miss is athletic but that is all i can say that is good about them.

I agree especially considering we were missing one of our star players and a sub that plays a lot. Our guys came out focused and played fairly well. Win the games you are supposed to with ease and get ready for the tougher game. We need a big win Sat night.

So, since C-USA is invariably a one bid league, which team is the team to beat this year? Who do we need to beat to win the conference?

Just getting to play would be a bid deal for a team that hasn't been there for 30 years, even if the first game would be against a Kansas or a Kentucky.

CUSA could get 2 teams in this year depending on the conference tourney... MTSU is the team to beat. They have been in the dance the last 2 years and they have a couple wins in the tournament. This year they have beaten Vandy and Ole Miss in nonconference. They are probably the only team that could get an at-large bid if they won the regular season but lost in the CUSA title game.

True...but it’s only fair to mention that last night we dressed 10 players...only eight of which were scholarship players. So I don’t disagree they aren’t good but we did what we’re suppose to do with a bad team and did it missing two key players and our second leading scorer.
