They were able to expand due to having a female owner. They strategically had the original owner, a male, pass the company to his wife as the sole owner. That way, they were eligible to bid on the numerous federal government contracts in that region that were set aside for minority owned businesses. Many of those contracts are multi-year, multi-million dollar deals.
