Get off this political BS and talk about something important.

Out shooting pool with some friends tonight and got to discussing music. We argued about who has been missed most after dying early. Thought I would post a poll. these are the 4 that were most discussed by the 6 of us.

I would have added more to the poll but these were the 4 that were discussed in the conversation. I could have thrown all of the above plus a few more in but these were the top 4 in our conversation.

In before Herd Fever casts a write in vote for Biggie.

Never said she was dead just deserves on the list.

What the hell are you talking about? The list is for the top musicians we wish had not died young. You included somebody who is living. Unless you know something we don't about her upcoming death, how can she deserve to be on the list?

Looking forward to hearing more about your expertise with kidz bop music for sure.

If somebody between the ages of 12-65 hasn't heard the name "Demi Lovato," they are clueless. They don't have to recognize a picture of her or name a song, but they are sheltered if they haven't heard the name.

Andy's comment in that thread made no sense. But I am laughing all the way to the bank with the "Kidz Bop" music. This one is less than 1 million views away from 100 million. That means somebody different could watch this video every second for the next three years, and it would still wouldn't have as many views as the video has now. Let that sink in: a different person could start watching this video every second for the next three years, and it would still have millions more to go to catch up.

This one is approaching RIAA certification for gold status:

Or any of these . . .

or any of the other 6 or 7 I have done that all have tens of millions of views.

Then, Google how much YouTube pays off of views after adding up the hundreds of millions of views my records have with just this artist alone. And that doesn't include royalties from Disney radio, record sales, iTunes sales, Spotify spins, Apple Music plays, etc.

I am laughing all the way to the bank with "Kidz Bop" while setting numbers that most major label artists never see in their careers.

In comparison to what the top rappers on major labels are doing . . .

J Cole is one of the top of the new school rappers. His second biggest hit on Billboard is this song, which reached #13 in the country and #3 on the rap chart. It came out on YouTube 4 years before my record, and it is barely in front of views:

This came out a few months before my first with Matty, yet it is still tens of millions behind. It also reached #12 in the country:

This one came out years before mine, reached #4 in the country, and is dwarfed by my records:

Kendrick Lamar is another of the leaders of the new school. I have a record he is featured on. One of his biggest hits came out before mine, yet his numbers are well behind:

Came out years before mine, hit #6 in the country, yet millions behind:

Bop, bop, bop, bop . . .

And here in Eastern Ky we put out another star in Chris Stapleton. Saw him many times when he played for the bluegrass band The steeldrivers. Sturgill simpson won CMA entertainment. Tyler Childers a Regular at the V club is getting ready to sign a big contract. Since the deaths of Bill Monroe and Earl Scruggs and Ralph Stanley bluegrass is bigger than ever. People are longing for live music. We have a whole younger generation who never go to concerts. They are far and few between and way to high. Im going May 13th to see The Isaacs at Milton
One of the countries best and 20 bucks a head to see them.

If somebody between the ages of 12-25 hasn't heard the name "Demi Lovato," they are probably clueless.

What's the point in needing to recognize a "star" name if it's not necessary to name a song or recognize a picture of the person?

Regardless. Thanks for all the information. It will be a hit at my next dinner party.

Of the ones listed in the OP, Id have to go with Mercury. One of the best frontmen ever. His charisma while performing was second to none.

The original point was that somebody had to have been under a rock to have not ever heard the name. Being able to recognize a song or picture is entirely different.

Mike Pence would be unrecognizable in person to many Americans, yet they would be clueless if they hadn't at least heard/be familiar with his name. The same holds true for Michael Jordan, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Gisele Bundchen. Though most people in this country would recognize their name and/or know they are a basketball player/actress/model, a high number wouldn't be able to name Jordan's biggest games/accomplishments, Paltrow's movies, or Bundchen's magazine covers or husband.

Likewise, most people wouldn't be able to name a specific Demi Lovato song or picture. But they have at least heard her name and realize she is in somebody in pop culture. If not, they are clueless, which was the original point (which you clearly missed both times).

I was with the Isley Brothers a few days ago. I had talked to Ernie Isley a little over the years, and in person he was just as quiet and reserved as he came across in previous communication with him. I then asked him one question which entirely changed his personality and opened him up.

During their shows, Ernie sometimes plays his guitar with his chin, behind his back, and even with his tongue. I asked him how he came about to doing that. His influence in that was Hendrix. Unbeknownst to me, Hendrix lived with the Isleys and was part of their band for a few years while Ernie was in elementary and middle school. Hendrix, like Ernie, was self-taught. Ernie copied a lot of Hendrix's style. He spent the next 15 minutes giddily sharing story-after-story about Hendrix having lived with them.

I will explain sarcasm to you. I hate her music and the music of most in her genre. There you go.

I suggest working on your humor. I don't think anyone had any idea what the hell you were talking about. Perhaps if you said "I wish we were able to put Lady Gaga on this list" it may have made more sense.

I'm clueless and out of touch I guess. A few of the names being thrown around I'm unfamiliar with. In some ways I'm very current for someone my age. In other ways I'm totally out of touch...especially with music. I just don't pay attention to the new stuff and haven't for years.

Unfortunately that makes us "uncultured" and "clueless". But more importantly, we just don't understand how important Rifle is..

Before this thread, having three or four daughters, you've never heard of Demi Lovato?
