All in good fun--Any suggestions for a good steak/seafood rest on Sat nite? Planning on Buddys on Fri
From a Boiler hoping that we'll be competitive and glad we didnt open with you LAST year!
PS I talked with several MU fans prior to the game at PU couple years ago--great fans, great people, one couple had their little girl with them, and I was able to get them in a pic in front of our "BIG DRUM" with a couple of cheerleaders also posing--they were very grateful and a great family!!

Here's hoping you have a great visit to Huntington. Do you have any plans while you're in town?

A few options for restaurants that are slightly upscale, all of which are in the downtown area, within a mile or 2 of campus/stadium:

Prime on 4th: http://www.primeon4th.com/index.jsp

Jewel City Seafood (seafood only): http://jewelcityseafood.com/Jewel_City_Seafood/Welcome.html

Le Bistro: http://www.lebistrowv.com/

Savannah's: http://www.savannahsmenu.com/

21 at the Frederick: https://www.zomato.com/huntington-wv/21-at-the-frederick-huntington

A few more libation-related recommendations for downtown area:

Craft Beer - Summit Ale House (absolutely great craft beer bar that's very small by most standards, but perfect for Huntington): https://www.facebook.com/summitbeerstation

Wine Bar - Sip: http://sipwinebarwv.com/

Cocktails - The Jockey Club: https://www.facebook.com/newjockeyclub

Many good places to eat. I think you would enjoy The Hall of Fame Cafe. We like to welcome visitors so don't hesitate to ask questions when you get here.

If you're staying at either of the downtown hotels- Holiday Inn or Pullman Plaza- the restaurants listed above are all within a few blocks. A stop at the Marshall Hall of Fame Cafe is a must. It is located directly across 3rd Ave from the Holiday Inn and about a block from Pullman Plaza.

Thanks so much for the help, We're staying at the Pullman for two nites so everything sounds easy/close!!
Looking forward to enjoying Huntington area & put Hall of Fame on the to-do-list
PS Please order some nice weather

I hope you enjoy the trip, but in all honesty, this year's team has the potential to better offensively and defensively than the 2014 team.

Hall of Fame has a great Happy Hour on Friday from 4-7PM. Half price appetizers and half price drinks. Good place to catch the games on Fri and Sat.

Although its more a business casual place - the 21 at the Frederick has the best steaks in town by far!
Jewel City is awesome - try the blackened Tilapia with Red Potatoes. Excellent. Although you sorta smell like fish when you leave.
Rocco's in Ceredo is the best place in the area regardless of cuisine. Excellent italian and good win menu.
Fat Patty's - close to the stadium. Great burgers, sandwiches. and wraps. It will be packed before and after the game.

Hopefully they have remodeled the Pullman a bit. Did you try the Holiday Inn & Suites Downtown?

Jimmy Hoffa is buried under the basement floor at the Pullman Hotel. I believe he is in the cement. Make that concrete.

The lack of quality hotels in Huntington is the reason most teams, including the Herd stay in Charleston the night before the game. I think Southern Miss was the first team to stay in town recently but had to walk outside to the civic center for meetings.

our team stays in barboursville.

As a Maryland man coming in for the game planning On spending , I can tell you a few things.
1. Find a bar any along 4th and by a Southern Belle always my first move is to go to the union.
2. Been spending Baltimore /dc money on Huntington so even if your team loses you win! Paying 1 or 2 $$a beer
3. Go to Tudors and get a biscuit before you leave . No regrets ...ever

Side note have to agree other than Holliday inn or the plaza your limited on hotels . Some good ones by Huntington high but don't want to go to route 60 all look like Meth labs and too far from stadium/ nightlife.
I know there was talk about building hotel with baseball field but that seems like a small pipe dream. Hoping Huntington builds more and mix development . If field of dreams taught me anything it s " if you build it, they will come"

You are 100% correct with Rocco's. I am Italian and love Italian food. I've been to Italy and nothing tops Rocco's.

Nothing is like eating Italian food in Little Italy among all of the Mafioso in Manhatten

I'm thinking that might make them late for the game.

I'd pay good money to see luigi's reaction when he walks into the bathroom at a little Italy establishment and sees fever taking a selfie of his armpit in the mirror.

Rocco's was a hidden gem when I lived in Huntington years ago, is seems everyone knows about it now and for good reason!!.. and Tudors Biscuit World just plain rocks!!
