HUGE difference between a constitutional republic and a democracy.
A constitutional republic is government ruled by a constitution.
A democracy is what the left truly wants, where the majority rules.
If this were a democracy, we would be ruled by New York and California, pretty much. No more freedom, no more Constitution.
I think the left intentionally calls it a democracy, specifically for their bleaters.
The LAST thing our free country needs, is to do away with our Constitution. It's the only thing that spells out our personal freedom.
Without it, we would be a democracy and socialists would win.
Did you graduate college? If so, you are a prime example of why a classical education with a strong liberal arts center is better than the shit out there today, which is largely a jobs program.
Let's get back to Oxford, where democracy is defined as "a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives."
There are many forms democracy may take. Direct, representative, electoral, parliamentary, dominant party system, republic, etc.
And I'm not sure what socialism has to do with any of this. Hell, you could have a direct democracy based on laissez-faire economy theory and governance, if that is the generally accepted culture of the populace.
And no, a constitutional republic is not government ruled by a constitution. That would be a constitutional anything. Communist China is ruled by a constitution. Iran has a constitution. Interestingly, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, while a monarchy, says its constitution is the Koran...and I have heard some Christians say such should be the case with the USA and the Holy Bible, which is as good an argument for separation of church and state as any.
