This QB "Battle" is the oddest thing I can remember

I'm just tired of it man. The kid hasn't even taken snap for this team and he's already getting a reputation he most likely doesn't deserve.

When and if Alex Thomson is named the starter next week, there needs to be a reason fans can accept. The coaches simply saying "Thomson deserved it," wouldn't go over real well with fans.

So he's soooo worried about Little Miami knowing who our QB is that he barely allows the guy he actually wants to be the starter to practice with the 1s where he can build sync and rapport with other starters. He's so worried about it he holds that QB out of over half he practices.

Game time decision and practicing is different. It would be different if both Green and Thomson were getting equal reps with the rest of the starters. You know because getting in sync with Brady and Obi isn't important.

The only logical thing is that Green IS the guy and Thomson's shoulder is worse than we know. So to disguise that Green is the starter Doc is leading on the Thomson is still in this fight. You do not hold the guy you want to run your offense out of multiple fall camp practices and when he does practice have him with the 2s and 3s.
Well, we are playing Miami-OH on the road, they are a veteran team that gave us a fight last season, and they are even favored in the game. We already have an advantage in that we have new coordinators so they won't have much if any game film to go by that shows our personnel playing in the new systems. Also, Thomson worked with our WRs all summer and they supposedly already have good chemistry. Green will likely start GM1 but that doesn't mean that Thomson won't eventually be our starter this season if his shoulder is healthy. I'm not sweating the QB competition as I have a good feeling about the position and the team this season.

I would like to throw in that I expect green to be a 2-3 year starter for us in what potentially should be a very good college career for him and one of the best QBs ever at MU.

They spanked us in 2003

Oh I remember that game. I want to say our offense was doing so poorly, their defensive line started doing this weird dancing move, side to side, just pretending they didn't care or were preparing themselves for our next anemic play.

No, but there are relationships in place that require us to operate in the fashion that we do.

From what I have seen, this only happens at small-time ball. IU, UofL, UK...the dirt flies. UofL couldn't even hide a speeding ticket given to a basketball player...granted, he was in a car that belonged to a booster, but yeah that shit hit the news.

It's all relative. Look at the Ohio State situation. Do you honestly think that whole story came out in that "investigation?" No chance. For as bad as some of the stuff was that came out in that, imagine how bad the full story actually is.

I'm not talking about cover-ups by university staff. Do you think media would "risk their access" to tOSU football to break that one? Hell yes, they would burn it to the ground. Why? It's big-time ball, big city media, and a big-time story. It's the kind of story that can advance a career. That's just not a good example. Same with the Louisville media burning UofL basketball and down and running out Tom Jurich. Now what I said about Kevin Ware speeding? Great comparison. Not a station in town nor the paper gave a damn what Pitino thought about that "character issue" hitting the news.

And I am not criticizing you either. Marshall is a fairly unique situation where it's in-between no-one-cares small ball and big-time sports, in a very loyal city with a limited media market (as I remember two of the four TV stations were so pro-WVU/blah-MU it was sickening). That gives Doc a lot more power and control. Your access to recruiting news is the best product you have. I get it. But it doesn't work this way a LOT of places, and can't work this way.

agree with. Much more brutal in bigger markets and around bigger programs.
