Well...

In the fourth quarter, I called out many of the quitters on the paid board. And there were a ton of them saying awful things about Huff, quitting on Marshall in the first half of the game, etc.

I simply quoted their posts and called them quitters and shitty fans, but that post was deleted by moderators. Even after I posted it, many of the same posters again claimed the game was over only for me to call them out again.

Quite simply, Huff and this football team deserve far better than the people who claim to be some of the biggest Marshall fans. I have absolutely no problem with understanding if Huff wants out of Marshall. He and the team deserve far better than the number of crybaby quitter fans they have.

I stand behind my assessment. I don't think Huff and the admin get along, from what I gather. That means trouble in the long run. He apparantly turned down contract extensions. Marshall came out flat tonight. Maybe it was a distraction.

I still think it is best if he and Marshall part ways. Nothing good is going to come from his staying. I have no inside sources, not an insiders. Just my world experience knowing things like this never end well.

Stop lying. That wasn't your assessment. It's why you went back and deleted your post in that same thread before I could respond.

You were one of the quitters. You said you could see this coming from a mile away (when Marshall was down 17-0). You weren't trying to say that you could see Marshall coming out flat. You were agreeing with the other posters saying that Huff put nothing into this game, that Marshall was going to get blown out, etc.

Again, your claim wasn't that you knew just that Marshall would come out flat. You were saying far more than that.

Be honest, accept your deserved shitty-fan title, and admit you were drastically wrong.

Where did you gather the information you admit you don’t have?

Of course if an employee and his bosses don’t get along things don’t usually turn out. Who would suggest otherwise?

Then, I also posted the words:

Horse Pussy when the field goal was missed.

So, what else did I post?

You said a lot more. Said hopefully this is Huff's last year at Marshall. Marshall should have canned him a long time ago (both said while down 17-0). Said you saw this [blow out] coming a mile away.

Well, it is farily common knowledge that Huff does not have a contract extension. So, he either turned one down or was never offered one. So, either way he is on the way out the door, unless there is a late deal in the next several days. There is all kinds of scuttle butt that he turned down at least one extension. If he didn't then the school did not offer one and he is in his last year.

His record hovers below .600 and was hired to replace a coach tht was doing much of the same. So, what conclusion should we draw?

I said earlier in the year, I thought he would be gone one way or another. Frankly, I think he is trouble for the organziation he in. There is something missing in the relationship.

Ok, I was wrong on the blowout. Marshall made a great combeback. I stand behind the other two statements. I am telling you this guy is trouble. I have seen this kind of thing play out 100 times in the world.

The team exceeded my expectations. I said 2 weeks ago that if we went on the road and beat a decent ODU and a pretty good JMU I would tip my hat to Huff, so I am.

I would say this, Huff was immediately ridiculed his first season here. Roasted for in game decisions that cost some games. The fan base was inpatient at year two and calling for his head at year 3. All the while completely ignoring the college football landscape completely changed during this time (NIL).

He didn’t help himself by interviewing for other jobs soon after arriving and appears to be a little thin skinned when receiving criticism and made some comments that were easily misconstrued.

Fans needed more patience early on and needed to see the reality that was staring them in the face. Things were changing. the team and coaches never gave up the way most of the fans did. They were growing, improving, and winning.

He will take the knowledge and experience he’s gotten here and use it to build a successful program somewhere else probably next year. We will be back to square one, starting over and wondering why some good ole boy home grown local doesn’t pan out.

Not worried about it. I could be wrong but I don't think we are losing Knute Rockne. The fans have little to do with it. It is obvious he ams the admin don't see eye to eye.

Crickets

Kudos to the players and coaches who’ve worked their asses off this season to get this opportunity.

Come on @The Real SamC. Where are you?
Loser.
(I suspect ‘429 is also still pondering why we couldnt lose so he could gloat.)
First of all I hate losing. We came out and looked unprepared and uninterested. We have a history of laying eggs under huff, see bowling green and ga southern. We showed heart and fight in the second half. The only thing I want is to see that for an entire game. If that makes me a bad fan so be it. We are playing for a championship which no one thought we would be this year and that is something to celebrate. No way we lose next week ifwe play like we did in the third quarter all game. Yes I know that won't happen because no team ever can do that but we sure as hell can find a happy medium.

What are your honest thoughts on the DC?

Last night was one of the best come back wins I've seen since the GMAC Bowl with ECU.

With the success he's had this season, he's likely gone regardless of what has transpired with the Marshall athletic administration, but it would be great to work something out for him to stay through the championship game.

I believe Huff and Spears have a toxic relationship. Not sure, just a feeling. I’m no fan of Spears so I’d like Brad Smith to step in and send Spears packing and do the right thing by offering Huff a worthwhile extension. And bring back Jeff O’Malley from Lamar where he went after getting screwed over as the replacement for Hamrick. Just my opinion.

You have no clue whether the admin and he see eye to eye. Your opinion is completely made up because as you admitted…you have no information.

The fans absolutely have a lot to do with it. This board is a microcosm of Herd nation. Quitters bitching everywhere. Those that have tried to be patient and pointing out the positives mocked endlessly.

Christ, all this from a fan who claims he doesn’t watch college sports or pay attention regularly. Ridiculous

Here.

CH won three more games than I expected, and has finally beaten a team that will go to a bowl game AKA has a winning record.

I look for him to leave, and that is fine with me. He and the administration do not get along. His wife doesn't want to be here. He has been applying for step-up jobs since he got here, and has been applying for lateral or even step-down jobs this year. He can finish out this year and take his act somewhere else, probably USM. It will be better for him and far better for us.

We can do better.

So, you have no kudos for a team that gutted out the victory last night?

Nice job Sam right on queue taking no accountability on how incredibly wrong you have been this entire season. They didn’t just win a few more games than you said they would, they won the East division, they won 2 road games against solid teams. They overcame adversity to take the East division championship, they didn’t back into it.
As far as the administration goes you have zero idea if the athletic department and Huff get along. Same thing with his wife. I know this I have read multiple posts from people that know her that has said she has been very involved with the community. Even if she doesn’t like it who cares? Do you think she will like Hattiesburg any better? Why do we care if his wife does or doesn’t like Huntington? I mean he’s brought some great players to this area that he and his wife supposedly don’t like. So whatever his feelings about Huntington it hasn’t stopped him from putting a good team on the field and contending for an overall SBC championship.

Lastly your we can do better. Tell me with whom? Give me another coach that we can afford that can completely rebuild a roster in one year including a new QB and running back and win their division of the Sunbelt with a good chance of winning the whole thing,

I’m sure you will deflect and not answer anything but it makes me feel good that our win last night ruined your day. New Mexico State called they said they appreciated your donation.

I am beginning to believe you are Chuck Landon hiding behind a screen name.

Quit being a loser and just admit you were wrong and move on.

As someone who has watched Marshall games since the 70's, last night was one of the grittiest, refuse to die efforts that I have ever seen from an MU squad.
Kudos to the staff and team for getting it done.
As for Huff, I am sure it's gonna be up to him on what his future holds. If he and the administration can't work out a deal, that's too bad for all involved. He will be somewhere in 25, most of us would like it to be here. But again, it may all be up to him.
If he leaves, MU football will live on.

Not just "wrong" but "incredibly wrong"? OK. We beat a I-AA, and teams that went 6-6, 5-6 (one loss hurricaned out), 3-9, 5-7, 1-11, 6-6, 5-7 and finally the one good team we played 8-4. For a solid, but unspectacular 9-3, losing 2 very winnable games.

I was wrong, off by two games or so. I failed to see just how weak this schedule was. That is my mistake.

Nothing "incredible" about it.

You are right. I am inferring what I read here and what I see in our community.

But if this is a wrong perception, then it is on him to correct it. I have seen nothing to make me believe the common view is wrong.
Lastly your we can do better. Tell me with whom? Give me another coach that we can afford...
So you are down with 31-20, 26-20 vs I-A. That is all poor little Marshall can afford. You are in a panic because we are losing a .600 coach. We dare not demand better.

CH is gone. He rolled into town looking for a better job (and there is nothing wrong with that) and when that didn't happen and the AD made the seat one degree above luke warm, started looking for lateral jobs and, so I hear, lesser jobs.

Give you names? Not my job, CS's job. If he has been doing his job, he has a list of many hundreds of men that are looking for a shot.
