How a political earthquake rocked California and made crime 'finally illegal again'

But, I thought everything was great in California? Getting rid of Democrat policies is the answer to a greater California. The bleaters are waking up.

Important Announcement

Yesterday was ‘wype’s wife’s birthday. He wanted to let all of his friends and coworkers know on Facebook that he loves his wife a lot.

I know, it’s incredibly shocking: a spouse loves their spouse. And then of course, when one of them posts about the other, the other has to reciprocate and basically post the same thing.

The joint Facebook account may be a waste of a next step with these two. This may be going directly to Dateline with the “fell down the stairs and hit their head” excuse.

“It was a brisk autumn night on the outskirts of Pittsburgh. The hometown football team had just won their weekly matchup, and everybody in the city was in a good mood. That was, until, the news of what happened later that night at the nicely groomed brick house on Teeter Street was revealed.”

LDS on trump & Deplorables

Hit the nail on the head with these:

Right after the election, you wrote about how Trump’s crass rhetoric “has cheapened political discussions and desensitized voters to behavior that in another era they would have deemed disqualifying in a president.” Have Latter-day Saints who voted for him become similarly desensitized? How do they justify voting for a candidate who talks like this?

People that I know who voted for Trump would have been absolutely scandalized by the things that he said, even just in the final weeks of this campaign. Just look at the last six weeks of the 2024 election cycle. He spread lies about Haitian immigrants eating their neighbors’ pets. He said America was the garbage can of the world. He invited a comedian onto the stage to call Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage. It goes on and on. Ten years ago, if Trump supporters had seen a Republican candidate talk like that on the presidential stage, they would have said, “There’s no way that person should be in the White House.” Now, not only did those people vote for him, for the most part, that stuff didn’t bother them at all. … People who are voting for Trump for the second or third time, at this point, long ago created a permission structure for themselves to support somebody whose character and behavior are far beneath the standards that they would have set for presidential candidates in the past

Some evangelical Christians see Trump as some kind of Christian “savior” and that God wanted him to be the president. Why aren’t Latter-day Saints talking like that?

I actually wrote a story for The Atlantic earlier this year about the prayers that were offered at the beginning of Trump rallies, most of them given by evangelicals. One of the running themes through those prayers is the idea that Trump has been anointed by God to lead this country, that he is kind of a biblical character, set apart to save the country from ruin. A lot of those same supporters have just talked themselves into the idea that Trump is a godly, almost prophetic figure like Paul or other kinds of straightforwardly heroic characters in the Bible. I have not seen that very much even among Latter-day Saint ardent supporters. They will say he’s doing great things for the country. And a lot of them did lean into the idea that God saved him from the assassination attempts, but I did not hear that he is a special figure anointed by God. The way that the church is set up in this hierarchical fashion, there isn’t quite as much room for a kind of non-Latter-day Saint politician to be slotted into that hierarchy….Latter-day Saints would feel uncomfortable with comparing him to a prophet, given their own beliefs about prophets.

MBB Thoughts vs Bellarmine

Game 4 vs Bellarmine Observations:
  • First half had a hard time establishing the pace. I thought Corny needed to do a better job of staggering Nate and Oak. Need at least one of them out there for 95% of the game. Not loving the Fricks at the 5 minutes.
  • I could probably say something positive about the defense every game. It's the lifeline of this team. Wasn't perfect as they still have miscommunication on switches and the aggressive nature leads to backdoor cuts often, but they play so damn hard and aggressive that they generate so many turnovers and don't allow you to get in your sets easily. The full court press really got to them. Forced 15 TOs and Bellarmine shot 36% from the floor and 27% from deep.
  • I thought offensively this was the fastest the Herd has played all year. Mingo is so valuable as a primary ball handler and his pnr passing has become such a luxury for this team and especially for Nate and OAK. He also had a lot to do with Speer getting going as they created many open c&s 3s and 2s. Allowing Speer to play off-ball a lot will benefit his scoring.
  • Speaking of Speer, that was exactly what we thought we were getting from the transfer. He was awesome tonight and brought a level of scoring that this team needed desperately. Awesome game for him and hopefully it continues.
  • 19 points of turnovers was a giant plus in this game.
  • Fouls are still an issue. It was bad again at the end of the first half. The streak of games with 20 plus fouls continued. 22 tonight.
  • This has a lot to do with Speer, but this was the highest % Marshall shot from 3 in a game vs a D1 opponent this year (36%). Just generated good looks from deep last night.
  • Nate Martin is one of the best bigs I've seen wear the green and white. He is an absolute warrior that brings it every night. His physicality wears opponents down and he never stops attacking and being aggressive. Let's not take his final season for granted.
  • Not a great night for Fricks. He was pretty bad last night.
  • OAK was super solid and I liked his shot diet. Not forcing the action and he honestly played incredible defense both on-ball and on the weak-side. Was impressed by him.
  • The rotation is rounding out and it seems like Corny is rolling with 10 guys. Nutter went down so that opened up mins for Spears.
Overall, we did what we were supposed to do with a kenpom 300 plus team. Nothing major to take away, but continue to improve and play to the defensive identity of this team. Now a week to prepare for Purdue.

dem Stop The Steal Is Actually A Thing?!

Had dinner tonight w/two libs & the daughter of a Republican senator. Even though they’re libs, they’re reasonable people. The lib female included. At least I thought they were. Libs actually believe Musk had a hand in making votes disappear via Starlink? This is actually a thing apparently.
The left has turned Elon into Hank Scorpio.

Chatted with 4-star CB Jett White about his OV to Marshall last weekend.

Some direct quotes from White:

"i had a wonderful time especially knowing it was the anniversary of the 1970 team. It is absolutely amazing how everyone comes together for such a heartfelt tribute and celebration. I really enjoyed the game, meeting with staff and players along with coaches Baker and Huff."

As I mentioned in another thread, White's connection to Marshall is through DB coach/Co-DC Henry Baker. Baker was at Maryland when White committed to the Terps, and Baker was a huge reason he made that decision. With Baker now at MU, the Herd stands a very, very good chance at landing White.

White told me he plans to sign December 4th, but doesn't quite know where he will be signing. Marshall is absolutely in his final group of schools along with Florida State, Toledo, Maryland, UCLA and Oregon State.

These Next Two Weeks Will Tell Us What Kind of Coach Huff Really Is.

With GaSo losing to Troy we are now in first place in the East and if we win the next two games we'll take the division and play for the championship.

Can he close the deal? If I'm Brad Smith and Christian Spears his extension depends on doing so.

Sure it's been said that an 8 win season and a bowl would be a good season, but now the division lead had fallen back into our lap.

This is why Huff was brought in. This is year 4. The division is ours for the taking. All that stands in our way is a subpar ODU and a decent JMU squad.

Are finally the better team? No excuses. Just win baby!

HERDNATION.COM Official Visitors for Coastal Carolina

Big list this weekend, with six current commits and two prospects making their way to Huntington for OVs who are not currently committed to MU:

Login to view embedded media Carter is perhaps the most versatile commit in Marshall's entire class. Carter plays all over the field for Valdosta but likely projects at WR for MU, although the coaches also love him at RB. He holds offers from App State, UCONN, FAU, Georgia Southern, UAB and WKU.

Login to view embedded media Gooding is one of two TEs in Huff's 2025 class (the other being Rhett McGrew out of Hurricane). Gooding likely needs to add mass before being a contributor at the FBS level, but he has the type of frame coaches dream about.

Login to view embedded media Nti is an under-the-radar prospect who looks the part out of Northwest High School in Germantown, MD. His senior season film is very impressive.

Login to view embedded media Kaufman is likely an inside line prospect in college who has the type of frame to add mass quickly. He also holds offers from Air Force, Army, Akron, Coastal Carolina, Navy, Toledo, WKU and WMU.

Login to view embedded media Laird is a massive prospect who could play both inside at guard and a tackle at the college level. He also holds offers from Arkansas State and The Citadel.

Login to view embedded media White, who holds offers from the likes of Army, Navy, Toledo and Bowling Green - had an excellent senior season at Pickerington Central (OH). He totaled 1,500 yards and accounted for 16 touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball. He projects as a slot receiver and kick returner at MU.

Login to view embedded media The first of the two non-Marshall commits is Shane King, a 6'4" receiver out of Gainesville, Georgia. Currently a Troy commit, King also holds offers from MU and Georgia State. Marshall is looking for another WR after the recent decommitment of Jarren Blackwell.

Login to view embedded media The last recruit on the list is perhaps the most exciting in 4-star CB Jett White out of Miami. White's offer list includes schools like Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Louisville, Miami (FL), Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, LSU and Georgia. White was committed to Maryland but backed down from that pledge in October. Needless to say, he'd be an exciting get for the MU staff.

Marshall vs Old Dominion - Tale of the Tape

Offensively, the teams are pretty similar. Both started out with veteran QBs but have gone to their more mobile backups and it's paid dividends. Freshman Colton Joseph has been very good at times but has also looked like a freshman in other games (like Saturday against JMU).
The next two games we'll be playing two of the worst teams we've seen all year in regards to pass protection. ODU has given up 33 sacks (9th most in the country) and JMU has given up 28 (Southern Miss is the worst in SBC with 38 sacks allowed....we've given up 11 sacks all season). Mr. Green should like what he says on the game film this week.
Defensively, they've been tenacious but mostly soft against the run and the pass. They've been without All-World LB Jason Henderson since the 1st game of the year and the initial news out of Norfolk is that he is out for the season and redshirting. Their best pass rusher is LB Mario Thompson - who leads the team with 4 sacks. Overall, they've gotten to the quarterback for 19 sacks on the season - which is 70th in the country.
Safety Jahron Manning is a playmaker who leads the team in tackles (81) and in interceptions (3). He's also forced 3 fumbles.
It's a typical Ricky Rahne ODU team. They'll scratch and claw to the very end and almost every game seems to be a one-possession contest - 5 of their 6 losses are by 8 points or less.
It sounds like broken record, but special teams busts and turnovers will likely be the difference in the game.

Final Selzer Poll in Iowa is a Disaster for Trump

Roughly speaking, Trump would need to win Iowa by about 8 points to feel good nationally. That's not a magical number, but if he's under an 8 point win in Iowa it's probably a very bad night for Trump.
Selzer, one of the consistently best pollsters over the last decade, just released their final Iowa poll. They have Harris up 3.

It's gonna be an early night on Tuesday.
