College Baseball

wvu has a game in regionals tonight against Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon's baseball and basketball facilities are SEC worthy. I mentioned this years ago when I used to spend 50 nights a year in Phoenix, but if you could play college athletic departments like the stock market, I would go big on Grand Canyon.

For those of you with ESPN+, tune into the Texas vs. Texas A&M game that just started. A&M, like most regional hosts, has unbelievable atmosphere. Their new coach already has been approved for $80 million in renovations even though their stadium is already one of the best in the country. Their "ball 4" chant is the best in baseball.

UVA just had a great atmosphere in their win against Mississippi State. wvu's game is on ESPN+ at 10 p.m. Eastern, but I don't know how good of a crowd they will have since the host (Arizona) has already been knocked out of the region. wvu has a legit chance of getting to super regionals with Arizona out of the way, which could mean they host a super regional . . . though I doubt the powers would allow such a quality event to be hosted by such a bunch of bums.

soccer spending

This has been floating around Facebook this week, so I don't warrant the accuracy.

Men's soccer budget. $2.23M. That is 9th in country. Only out-spent by Syracuse ($2.78M, the biggest spender), Clemson, Indiana, Notre Dame, Washington, Wake Forest, Maryland, and Southern Methodist.

Men's soccer live gate. 2,198. Only outdrawn by Maryland and Clemson.

Considering all of those schools, save SMU (which charges $62K/year tuition) are flush with P4 cash, it is impressive.

Fox News Alert: Illegal immigrant from Venezuela shoots 2 NYC police officers during foot chase in Queens

"I hope he's processed and released immediately. I was going to hire that poor immigrant. He'd be so much better than hiring an American citizen. At least the poor, illegal, foreign national has free health insurance that the taxpayers provide! It's the least we can do after he came here illegally." - riflearm2

2 NYPD officers in stable condition, expected to recover after shooting

Two New York City police officers were shot early Monday while chasing a suspect, who authorities say is an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, while investigating a pattern of robberies involving suspects on scooters.

The shooting happened just before 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of 89th Street and 23rd Avenue in the Elmhurst neighborhood of Queens.

The two officers, part of the 115th Precinct’s public safety unit, attempted to pull over a male suspect driving a scooter the wrong way when the suspect began to flee on foot. During the foot chase, the suspect shot at the two officers, who returned fire.

One officer was shot in the stomach area of his bullet-proof vest, while the other officer was shot in the leg. Both officers were rushed to hospitals in stable condition and are expected to recover.

"Every day New Yorkers are not wearing this," New York City Mayor Eric Adams said during a press conference from Elmhurst Hospital while holding a wounded officer’s bulletproof vest and pointing to a bullet hole in the front.

"This is what we’re fighting every day," Adams said, calling the shooting a "senseless act of violence" and a "total disregard for life."

The suspect was shot in his right ankle and also taken to a hospital. Police said the gun that the suspect used in the shooting was illegally possessed.

The suspect was identified as Bernardo Raul Castro Matta, a 19-year-old man from Venezuela, who police said entered the country illegally through Eagle Pass, Texas. He was currently residing at a former Courtyard Marriott hotel in Queens that is now being used as a migrant shelter, according to police.

While Castro Matta has no prior arrests in New York City, police said he is a suspect in multiple robbery patterns in Queens.

Police said one wounded officer has served the department for 5 years, while the other wounded officer has over two years on the job.

Scooters and motorbikes are being used citywide to commit crimes including shootings, robberies and phone snatches, according to police. Authorities said these patterns have seen a dramatic spike over a three-year period.

From Jan. 1 to June 1, 2022, police said there were no robbery patterns involving scooters. During the same period in 2023, these patterns increased to 20. From Jan. 1 to June 1, 2024, police said there were over 80 of these incidents.

3rd-strike 'trans' rape suspect prompts rebellion against CA law after attack in women's prison

This dude is just loving Democrat policies. Who would ever imagined that this could happen?

Sun Belt Baseball

So far, three of the four Sun Belt teams that made the tournament have advanced to the regional finals. The fourth team, Louisiana, needs to win their current game against Texas to advance to the regional finals. Louisiana is beating Texas 2-1 in the 8th inning.

The good news is that, as of now, all four teams will make the finals in their region. The bad news is that all four will be coming through the loser’s bracket, which means they will have to beat their opponent two games in a row to advance to super regionals.

So far, a pretty good showing for the Sun Belt, especially if one or two teams can get into super regionals.

Remember when Coker was demanding a public hearing, back in December?

Well, the time is here and he is now refusing to attend...I wonder why?

"Coker Biden for months stated he wanted a public hearing, but now that one has been offered alongside his business associates that he worked with for years, he is refusing to come," Comer said. "During our deposition and interview phase of our investigation, Coker Biden confirmed key evidence, including evidence that his father, President Pedo-Joe, lied to the American people about his family’s business dealings and, in fact, attended meetings, spoke on speakerphone and had coffee with his foreign business associates who collectively funneled millions to the Bioden Crime Family."
