A confidential Internal Revenue Service legal memo says tax returns must be given to Congress unless the president takes the rare step of asserting executive privilege, according to a copy of the memo obtained by The Washington Post.
The memo contradicts the Trump administration’s justification for denying lawmakers’ request for President Trump’s tax returns, exposing fissures in the executive branch. According to the IRS memo, which has not been previously reported, the disclosure of tax returns to the committee “is mandatory, requiring the Secretary to disclose returns, and return information, requested by the tax-writing Chairs.”

The House Intelligence Committee will not enforce a subpoena against Attorney General William P. (CNN)A federal court in Washington, DC, hasunsealed five search warrantsthat special counsel Robert Mueller obtained while investigating Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former lawyer and fixer.

The documents are from 2017, before Mueller referred the Cohen investigation to federal prosecutors in Manhattan.

In all, dozens of pages documents were unsealed.
The first application for a search warrant came in July 2017 and was for Cohen's Gmail account. Mueller's team told a judge there was probable cause to believe that Cohen was acting as a foreign agent and was lying to banks.

In a search warrant application from July 2017, prosecutors outlined how Cohen started communicating with a Russian-connected company on Election Day. Over the next year, there were more than 1,000 calls and text messages between Cohen and the CEO of that company, Columbus Nova.
In the filing, Mueller's team made it clear that Cohen began contacting the company immediately after the election: "Telephone records show no such text messages or telephone calls between COHEN's cellular telephone and the CEO of Columbus Nova prior to November 8, 2016."
Columbus Nova is an American company linked to Viktor Vekselberg, a prominent Russian oligarch. In the documents, prosecutors noted his "various connections to Russian President Vladimir Putin."

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Thursday unveiled a $16 billion bailout for farmers hurt by his trade war with Beijing, signaling a protracted fight ahead.

On Thursday, the Agriculture Department said it would provide up to $16 billion in aid to farmers hurt by trade retaliation.
