Disgusting

I guarantee the moment I graduated from OSUT training meant as much if not more that my college degree. I don't care why those folks got there. They raised their hand and gave an oath. And, if you don't think it takes guts to go to war and you can equate that with a drama queen reality show then you need help.

youre arguing against things i never said. you claimed that the 19 year old is a hero. no, in most cases, the 19 year old simply selected the best option for him, in a selfish way (as we all do to find the best route in life), and ended up in a shitty situation. if you would have told him that he would have his leg blown off, but he would get to defend the country, do you think he still would have signed up? of course not.

i respect what they do, but lets not pretend the typical 19 year old serviceman signed up for the love of country and out of a feeling of duty.

I also mention the 19 year old in Iraq and the father that works 80 hours a week.

Yeah, because in the days leading up to it you won't be able to watch SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight, or even one of their 85 Red Sox/Yankees games without it scrolling across the bottom of the screen all night "GUY WHO HAD IT ALL CUT OFF TO BE PRESENTED OUR IDIOTIC AWARD."

I don't even think I've watched Sportscenter in over a year and I get all my baseball from mlb.tv. If it weren't for college football I could ditch cable and not have to deal with them at all.

Sounds like an admission that you're glad you don't have to watch that scroll. That's my whole beef with the fake PC'ers. It's all fake. All bull.

There is no way people look at this and don't think about how weird or sickening it is. No way. That's the natural reaction. Anything else is some stupid act they're trying to force on us for politics.

Actually people that really have lives don't waste it watching TV, period. Again.... You admit to not having much of life other than a TV and then want to sell others on what their life is or isn't.

If that's what having a life is all about, then I'm glad I apparently don't have one. I guess you save a bunch of money not having to pay those high cable bills every month, and buying a new set every once in a while. What do guys that have a life do when they get out of bed every morning? You just shower and shave, and head out to work? No watching the morning news, right, because that would mean you have no life. What do you do in the evenings? No TV from 5 o'clock until you go to bed. I'm not sure I could handle the life you have. I just have to have some form of entertainment. Do you do yard work with your wife? Pick flowers, hold hands, take walks? Please do tell. I may be missing out on something that perhaps I may find interesting. I'm sitting here crunching the numbers as to how much money I could save per year by not watching TV...period.

No, I want them to sell me that their life is good enough that I should get my ass moving and get one like theirs. So far no sale.

I'm not envious. I see and hear what other people do, and I think it sucks more than just sitting around waiting to die. Look at us on here. We have to resort to anonymous internet forums just to talk to people. In the real world, you either have to be a nice faker all the time or just walk around like you're in Moscow.

Evidently Caitlyn Jenner won the gold medals.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...hpModule_9d3add6c-8a79-11e2-98d9-3012c1cd8d1e

Did Bruce Jenner or Caitlyn Jenner win those Olympic gold medals and appear on those TV shows? And if Caitlyn Jenner did, must history be rewritten? Is every source that refers to “Bruce Jenner, record-breaking athlete” — or “Bruce Jenner, guest star on ‘Silver Spoons'” — now in need of a correction?

Wikipedia thought so. By Tuesday evening, the ubiquitous crowdsourced encyclopedia was redirecting its “Bruce Jenner” page to “Caitlyn Jenner” and using the pronoun “she.”

Example: “At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada, she won the gold medal in the decathlon, setting a world record of 8,616 points, beating her own world record set at the Olympic Trials,” the Caitlyn Jenner Wikipedia page read at 11:24 p.m. EST on June 1. This sentence was a bit jarring: “Jenner was also the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year in 1976.” Even the Wikipedia page for “Can’t Stop the Music,” a poorly received — and pretty darn obscure — film featuring the Village People that Jenner appeared in in 1980, lists “Caitlyn Jenner” as a star.

Not when weirdos want to track you down, I guess. I have absolutely no interest in meeting anybody on here in person, knowing their name, etc.

There are a lot of weird freaks on these boards. That's probably why they defend this stuff. The only reason I'm here is I hate talking to people in person. Processing body language, facial expressions, voice tone, the lights, the clothes, the colors, the sounds, the smells, etc. is too much. So I just hurry it up and get it over with. Hate it.

But like the parks, these places like this seem like another gay trolling ground.

No, I don't mind that as much as meeting new people in person. I only deal with people in person as much as it takes to keep a job. Other than that, no interest in it. There are no set rules. Anything goes. That sucks. Without set rules, there is no chance to measure success. So I figure it's always a failure.

What exactly is on the news you feel you need to see? (rhetorical question) I can scan a few headlines of a news site on a smart phone in 30 seconds if I want and see the same news stories that were reported 2 days, weeks, months, or years ago. My TV was once never endingly tuned to CNBC for biz news. Hell, even it is recycled bullshit over and over and over again. (Amazing how much better my investing became after never turning it on over the last year) Who cares who hit a home run last night in the bottom of the 9th or ran a TD? If you are not in the stadium to really experience the games activities, what is the point? Who cares about the Jenner story besides the idiots who seem to "need entertainment"?

Watching someone else live their life on TV is incredibly boring to me. I would rather live one myself by finding something else to do. Sure I take walks. I ride bikes, go to the gym, read books, have conversation with my wife and kid. Socialize with friends. Lounge by the pool. Enjoy good cigars. Play some occasional golf. Do a little bit of traveling. Attend a concert or charity event every now and then. Maybe visit a museum if there is an exhibit I want to see. Listen to some interesting podcasts. Work a few hours everyday except Saturday. Basically, I make the effort to find new things that interest me in work or play. I don't usually waste time asking someone else to tell me what I may be missing in life. IMO watching TV is meant for the brain dead or for those looking to become that way quickly. Spending too much time on this site runs the risk of the same, I might add.

I think this thread is really about people who are trying to elevate their own experiences in life. If you personally chose to serve in the military, you have a desire to elevate that experience every opportunity because it makes your own choices and experience appear more noble. On the other hand, if you chose not to do the military gig, you might try to diss those who put the people who served on a pedestal in fear that they might think they somehow had a more preferred experience then you did.

The real truth here is that twenty years down the road people generally don't give a sh** one way or the other.

You posted this at 1:30 in the freaking morning?...and you're questioning others about having a life?

Got home from a really late dinner. Hosting some family in town who are visiting. Still had some other work to complete before calling it a day. And was probably still up before you turned on The Today Show to get your daily fix of Al Roker.

I'm up at 6:00 every morning, regardless of the day of the week. One things for certain though, as I would never tune into a show on NBC. I'll watch Good Morning America though, since Ginger Zee sometimes gives me morning wood. She's a local girl up this way, so I'm allowed to choke my chicken to her if I choose to do so.

Yep. I was still up before you were. Kudos on a life which allows you to brag about choking your chicken.....(I guess). Better story than hiding in a Build A Bear Workshop from a gay couple.

"I want my son to be gay or become a girl like Bruce Jenner", said no dad ever.

Wanting someone to be gay and dealing with the realities, without judgement, and still loving them for everything they are, are completely different things.

Didn't say there wasn't love there. But, who would want their son to be gay?

The libtards won't answer the question.

Because there are so many pieces of shit out there like you, I doubt many parents would wish the burden of being gay on their child.

Of course, you're also the same guy who said no guy would be happy if their daughter brought a black guy home for dinner, so we don't expect much out of you.

No, I stated that I wouldn't be happy and many others, if they answered the question honestly, would not be happy either.

My hypothetical daughter is almost 18. Stay away.

.

And that is different than what I said how? . . . that I contended you said "no guy" but you claim it was just "many others."

The point remains the same.

Nobody would want their child to be gay. Who would want their child to go through what most have to go through? Who would want family members & friends acting like your child is subhuman? Constantly judging and making jokes. Nobody would want that if they had the choice.

But it's not about making a choice. Nobody gets to choose how their child is born. It's about how you react to the situation after the fact. If who your child lays with bothers you, you need to stop thinking about your child laying with someone. I would like to think that if my son or daughter's significant other treated them with respect, were goal oriented, and valued education that would be more important to me than what gender they were.

If your son was gay how could you not think of the situation of two men bedding down? Damn son are you 6he pitcher or catcher?

Sorry, but that slap ass locker room talk wouldn't cross my mind.

Do you think of the guy your daughter is with on top of her, making her scream the lords name while begging for him to give it to her harder? Or do you only think about your son getting off?

But if you want to bring up pitching & catching jokes, maybe your daughter likes catching in the same place Michael Sam likes catching? Would that make her any different? Or do you not think about what women do in the bed room? Only men?

Oh, bullshit. A person isn't a hero for making a decision completely on what is best solely for him as an individual. The vast majority of those 19 year olds have no reason to be there other than that it allows them a free education or a decent paycheck down the line. Very few signed up for any noble cause outside of their own individual gains.

That isn't heroic. It is exactly like the kids who were able to immediately go to college.

Stop being a coward and call it like it is since you claim to always do that.

I signed up originally for college money and because I didn't have a clue what the hell I was going to do with my life, so that supports part of your argument.

But, as the military began to leave its lifelong impression on me, I developed a great feeling of pride when wearing the uniform and the fact that I earned it, as well as a place in the military. Unfortunately, with that place in the military, you are also government property and will do as ordered until you leave.

These men and women who lose body parts were in an environment they knew wasn't safe, nor were they there for the money. Trust me, other than a few head cases, anyone would gladly take a free ticket the hell out of a combat zone. It takes great courage to follow a command to go into an area, especially in live combat and continue to follow orders.

I don't know, I just can't give equal value to a man who chooses to become a woman (which is his own business) and chooses to have surgery under sedation & pain meds vs someone who is ordered (not his/her choice) to dive head first into combat and have body parts blown or ripped off.

Exactly my point. Anyone would take a free ticket out of the combat zone. They aren't there to help defend America by their choice. They were originally there for the reasons you said you were, and they stayed there and followed orders instead of going to jail.

If they were there for a sense of duty and country, as herdman claimed, they wouldn't gladly take a free ticket out of that combat zone.
