This board has a severe allergy to intelligence, especially when mob mentality kicks in. And mob mentality has definitely kicked in.
Let's review Huff's words which have illogically resulted in so much backlash. He mentioned two things:
1) Marshall not having financial support (NIL money)
2) Marshall fans hating Cam and making him miserable
Let's first look at #1. Is this really any different than what countless other coaches have publicly complained about, including Pruett? Why did Pruett not face this backlash when he made the same complaints? Hell, he threatened to quit if we didn't get better financial support, and nobody reacted like this. One argument made was that Pruett was allowed to do that because he won more games. OK? That still doesn't make Huff's words any less accurate nor is it something terminable, especially since Pruett faced no backlash from fans. Countless other coaches have publicly said that their lack of funding hurts them. This is a nothingburger.
Now, let's look at #2. This board has been full of vile comments towards Cam. Cam's own sister just posted comments about how bad fans were towards her brother. So Huff isn't the only one to observe this. Further, Owen Porter, just weeks ago, voiced his anger towards Marshall fans for them booing the offense. He told fans not to come to the game. So why was that conveniently accepted on here?
Tons of coaches have bashed their own fans. Saban has bashed his fans for lack of attendance:
Mike Gundy grew a large fanbase by attacking his fans and sticking up for his own quarterback when their fans booed him. I could give a bunch of examples of coachces doing this. 7Yet when Huff does the same and calls out the fans for treating Fancher poorly, he is in the wrong?
Again, we have the team's own leader telling Marshall fans not to come to games due to them booing. Not a peep on here about that. But when the head coach defends one of his guys and said that Marshall fans were bad to him, suddenly the pitchforks come out?
For the record, all of the people who were shown to have complained about Marshall and not faced any backlash were white.
The one who did exactly like others have done, but unlike others, faced backlash, was black.
Subconscious racism. It's the new, modern West Virginia.
