For some of these states, if we could break down these numbers by race you would have one answer to your question. To this day the southern states give not one damn about poor black people, doubly so if they are rural.
The problem is, they need to turn in their liberal cards when they do move. That way the new location doesn’t turn into a shithole like they were leaving.
Well educated high earners used to know that not being woke was the way to live. They seem to be losing their way and are increasingly accepting wokeness.
Did you read that full study? They are calling earners in California who make about $120k high-earners. Sure, in most of the country, that's a great income, but in many parts of California, you're struggling to buy a one-bedroom condo in an average neighborhood with that income.
Yeah, they are bringing intelligent, educated, better medical care, less crime, etc. with them. They need to live that shit wherever they came from. People in Idaho, Wyoming, and Arizona don't want to deal with that type of civilization.

I could tell this story first-hand and the trouble my wife faced. It was not good quality of care and thankfully my father-in-law was a doctor and stepped in to make demands or I'm not sure how the outcome would have been for my wife or my child. Also, another doctor in the same practice stepped in and took over for the inept individual that, thankfully, is no longer there.
Why yes, everything was just peachy in rural health before the Congress passed RomneyCare.

I live in NC and have a place in SC. My son went to a military school in Alabama deep in the heart of a "black" rural area. He actually received medical treatment in black rural clinic. That was their medical facility.
Keep on talkin' and the Uhauls from the wonderful and perfect blue areas leave and head this way.
If it was that bad people would not keep coming by the truckloads and people would actually be leaving.

RomneyCare in MA was an absolute failure. That's why Mass. is on the list Rifle provided and the reason repubs abandoned such a policy nationally. Obumma took up the cause....guys like you said "we can do it better." Sure.

People are not moving to the rural, poor, Black south. They move to the coasts and urban/suburban areas. Mississippi in particular is losing people, because 90% of the state is a shithole.

People aren't moving to the south for the education. It's why it's most retirees based on a per capita basis. People with kids don't want their children educated in southern schools due to how bad their education system is. I coached with a bunch of guys who coached at Ivy League schools. They recruited nationally. But when they wanted a kid from the south who went through public schools, they knew they were in trouble, because the majority of those kids have no chance at getting even an athletic waiver to get accepted since their educations were so bad coming from the south.
People aren't moving to the south because crime reasons. It's worse in the south than the north. Violent crime, especially among white males, is far worse in the south.
People aren't moving to the south for improved medicine. Medical care is far better in the northeast and west.
People aren't moving to the south because of political/social reasons. It's why you complain about them coming and wanting to change things to how they had it better in the northeast/west.
People are only moving to the south for their preferred weather and/or a cheapter cost of living (including no state income taxes in some states).

Yes, I am Southern. My ancestors were on that side and i have also had a connection to the South. Much of WV was for the South. WV was part of VA and illegally split. My ancestors shot at Yankee invaders.
Reality is people are moving to the South and have been for some time. Don't know what all the South bashing is when it is one of the fastest growing areas of the country and it is diverse and vibrant.
