Great work as usual. Hey, I hear D'Antoni has plenty of room in the trophy case if you're looking for somewhere to store those.

Dreh, we may have to head over to HerdFans. The moderation of this board is absurd. A thread last night that fairly criticized a potential new football hire (a guy who has a massive record of cheating and lying to the NCAA) was deleted. A moderator took offense to it, because another coach shouldn't criticize another coaching staff (even though the post was made as a Herd alum and fan with no mention of coaching). It shouldn't be much of a surprise that there is a negative response when a school like Marshall, one that has multiple situations of major violations, is rumored to be hiring one of the biggest cheaters in college football over the last 10+ years.

The moderator claimed much of it was "just not true in the slightest." He claimed that refuting it would be embarrassing to me, so "out of respect," he was private messaging the poster instead.

Much of the rest of the thread dealt with personal incidents regarding the poster, so claiming it was "just not true in the slightest" really doesn't make sense. When asked repeatedly what was not true in the post, since much of it was opinion/much of it was supported by the NCAA infraction report/the rest was all personal experiences, the moderator refused to answer.

It was the biggest overreach of moderation I've seen in 16 years on here.

The change in moderation on this board has made this place a ghost town. Check out the main board. The last six posts were from the board owner which resulted in three whole responses (over six posts). There hasn't been a thread started by somebody other than the board owner in the last 24 hours. 10 of the last 13 threads have been started by the board owner. 2 of the other 3 have been started by a wvu fan. So, it probably isn't bright to delete a thread which had 10+ responses within the first hour of it. Of course, when you base your moderating on what the Marshall staff tells you to delete (basically, anything which criticizes any of them that they don't like), it will result in an entirely one-sided board . . . eventually becoming a dead board.

A long-time current moderator was responsible for ruining this board due to his hypocrisy. A more recent moderator has further damaged it due to his inability to talk to customers, lack of people skills, and allowing his bias with the Marshall staff to influence his moderating. The board owner - a good guy - needs to clean if he wants to get this anywhere near where it was before and make it an asset to Marshall's recruiting.

This particular board has had more activity on it in the last 36 hours than it has had in months, thanks to the return of some old posters. Yet, that can quickly change.

Well, being new to the board, I'm not aware of all the politics that go on, but I was shocked when reading that the main board was titled 'Herd Fans Only', but yet, there were plenty of posters from our arch rival posting. It seems they are welcome with open arms, while we die hard Herd Fans are treated as though we're exiles from a 3rd world country like Jamaica.

That's another great part of it all. A wvu fan is allowed to post thread titles mocking our head basketball coach. Yet, when a Marshall fan/alum types exactly what is written in the NCAA public infraction report about a potential Marshall hire, the thread gets deleted and a moderator tells him that people he trusts far more told him those things weren't true.

Christ. Read the damn 100+ page report in which the potential Marshall hire is public enemy #1 and was given a two year show-cause.

I wondered where that threat went, Nots. I agreed with you in that thread.

They can delete my post all the want to, but MU football is a shit show right now. Running the Juco circuits and bizarre coaching hires. I am sorry if the can't see it. We all could see it on the field last year. Doc lost the program.

I am in total disagreement with the deletion of that thread, FWIW. I think we are playing with fire with that guy.

Alot of butt hurt.

First you criticised the Pepe Pearson hire last year.

Now you criticize the hire of Aubrey Hill.

Im noticing a common theme but hey get over it. Doc doesnt want to hire you bro. Stop texting and emailing him looking for a response. Very creepy

Doc will be gone in one or two years anyway. My opinion. He can't win anymore and can't win big. The only thing saving him now is Hamrick and the contract extensions that has Mu locked into him and Hamrick. Bad Deal.

That was the entire point of the first few posts. It was simply reiterating everything that the NCAA public report found Hill and Hurtt guilty of doing. Some of the prospects and former Miami players claimed Hill was actually the guilty party that the NCAA blamed on Hurtt, but the punishments for both ended up being the same. If Marshall fans - a school which has had its fair share of major violations - can't discuss why it would be an awful hire, then this entire board needs to be blown up more than it already is.

No, I criticized the methodology of the hire. The requirements in order were:
1) be black
2) be black and hopefully have experience coaching running backs at any level
3) be black, hopefully have coached running backs at some level, and if not, just be a decent coach

They didn't care if they had far better options who weren't black. They had to fit requirement #1 even if they had no running back coaching experience and were only a decent coach.

Truly, that were the order of requirements. So, they went out and got a guy who had spent ten years coaching D2 ball. If you're black and had a good career at a major school, you have a great chance to be coaching major college football early in your career. It usually doesn't take 15 years of coaching at a lower level to get a chance under those circumstances.

Now you criticize the hire of Aubrey Hill.

People with ethics and/or intelligence would highly question that move. It doesn't even have to be mentioned that his receivers were awful at Florida (no receiver had more than 21 catches in 2011). So, yes, based mostly on his ethics and history of cheating/lying, most Marshall fans should criticize the move.

Im noticing a common theme but hey get over it. Doc doesnt want to hire you bro. Stop texting and emailing him looking for a response. Very creepy

Yes, that one text per year is almost as creepy as you mentioning me multiple times on the private board in the year I haven't been here. Tell everyone again how you miss me being around here.

Fever, Aubrey Hill is a no win situation for Marshall. Even if he developed ethics in the last two years of banishment, all that means is that he will leave after a year here because the stench will be washed off and he'll go to a bigger school. When he does he'll take whatever good recruits he's working on with him.

He was a horrible WR coach at Florida, so it looks like recruiting is his only ability and we don't know how good he is at that when he can't offer additional inducements.

I guess you guys forget who was calling the offense and who the players where.

A couple players that transferred and a few HS busts.

Hell if the defense wasnt as stacked as they was, the 2011 Gator offense would have been worst.

Either way, there is a ton of butt hurt in your post. Just let it go and move on. Maybe when Doc retires or leaves, maybe the new coach will give you a shot.

"Butt hurt" was a phrase said by dorky white people a decade ago. It wasn't cool to say then. It definitely isn't cool to say now. Did you wear your "NOT!" t-shirt today?

Fans don't accept when their school makes poor and unethical decisions which has a chance to lead to long-term destruction to the school. The risk far, far outweighs the reward. It is a Damon Cogdell hire. Carol City is stacked next year. It is a hope that stealing their coach will lead to getting some of their recruits, just like wvu did when they hired Cogdell to a two year deal, only to then dump him on the side of the road. It is a desperate quick-fix hope with big, big risks involved.

Bro, there still a few FBS slots left

Someone as smart as you surely will land on your feet. Ill admit, you have a proven track record with player development.

And personally I think you would be a good QB coach here, but man your ego.... I dont know. Probably why you was out coaching in middle of nowhere Texas.
