Dreh, we may have to head over to HerdFans. The moderation of this board is absurd. A thread last night that fairly criticized a potential new football hire (a guy who has a massive record of cheating and lying to the NCAA) was deleted. A moderator took offense to it, because another coach shouldn't criticize another coaching staff (even though the post was made as a Herd alum and fan with no mention of coaching). It shouldn't be much of a surprise that there is a negative response when a school like Marshall, one that has multiple situations of major violations, is rumored to be hiring one of the biggest cheaters in college football over the last 10+ years.
The moderator claimed much of it was "just not true in the slightest." He claimed that refuting it would be embarrassing to me, so "out of respect," he was private messaging the poster instead.
Much of the rest of the thread dealt with personal incidents regarding the poster, so claiming it was "just not true in the slightest" really doesn't make sense. When asked repeatedly what was not true in the post, since much of it was opinion/much of it was supported by the NCAA infraction report/the rest was all personal experiences, the moderator refused to answer.
It was the biggest overreach of moderation I've seen in 16 years on here.
The change in moderation on this board has made this place a ghost town. Check out the main board. The last six posts were from the board owner which resulted in three whole responses (over six posts). There hasn't been a thread started by somebody other than the board owner in the last 24 hours. 10 of the last 13 threads have been started by the board owner. 2 of the other 3 have been started by a wvu fan. So, it probably isn't bright to delete a thread which had 10+ responses within the first hour of it. Of course, when you base your moderating on what the Marshall staff tells you to delete (basically, anything which criticizes any of them that they don't like), it will result in an entirely one-sided board . . . eventually becoming a dead board.
A long-time current moderator was responsible for ruining this board due to his hypocrisy. A more recent moderator has further damaged it due to his inability to talk to customers, lack of people skills, and allowing his bias with the Marshall staff to influence his moderating. The board owner - a good guy - needs to clean if he wants to get this anywhere near where it was before and make it an asset to Marshall's recruiting.
This particular board has had more activity on it in the last 36 hours than it has had in months, thanks to the return of some old posters. Yet, that can quickly change.
