I see that everybody is adding rainbow flags and colors to their facebook profiles. also noted many businesses and buildings have done the same thing (even in Huntington). it has been confirmed that more than one non-LGBT person was killed in Orlando. am i wrong in thinking this is part of the problem with our country today? we are so divided into so many different groups. we classify each other based on color, sexual preference, political party, pro-gun, anit-gun ect. this was an attack on America. shouldn't we be united as Americans? everybody had a French flag after Paris. the same after Belgium. my facebook feed is a battle ground between different groups of AMERICANS fighting over who or what is to blame for this. seems we have lost our identity and in my opinion this is EXACTLY what the "bad guys" want...

disclaimer: I support the LGBT community 100% and have always felt they deserve the same rights as everybody else. nothing homophobic about this.

The answer lies in your disclaimer...or the compulsion to actually add it. We have become so fearful of being labeled a bigot that we can't freely have opinions, even those based in merit. If we express an opinion about any minority it isn't viewed as an opinion on an American. To me, we will turn the corner on prejudice when we can freely criticize behavior based on the merit of the behavior and not assign protection based on the fact that they are a minority.

Wear the name Bigot proudly. Just call me Biggie the Bigot.

But I think we need to be mindful that we can't just look to criticize based on the fact we're tired of the backlash that comes from those who are insulating minorities. It needs to be a legitimate criticism and not agenda driven. That being said the Orlando shooting should be criticized for the despicable behavior that it was without fear of backlash labeling. Those engaging in politicizing this event and chosing to defend their politics instead of showing outrage are just as bad as bigots. They are allowing their ideological tendencies to trump how they see indecent behavior.

This guy was just as dumb as the kkk guy in south carolina. However, currently the kkk is basically irrelevant and ISIS is somewhat of an international big deal currently.
