Transfers after Spring ball

Why do players wait until after spring ball before announcing their intention to transfer? I'm all for each player going after what they want, but taking up a spot all spring, when you knew you were going to leave is pretty selfish. You hamper the team from preparing for the upcoming year. The coaches count on you, then you give them the big finger! Then again, NIL and the Transfer Portal has completely screwed up college athletics. So why would we expect anything less?

Some of that happens, but coaches also ask players to move on after spring practice, too. Goes both ways.

Look at the improvement in Height and Speed that some of guys may feel their chances of seeing playing time down.
