72-65 over UNCG, who came in 8-1. Hopefully a confidence builder.

I am as hard as anyone
What do you expect? He’s 76 years old. Dan’s not going to abandon his persona for you or anyone else. His press conferences are so bad….he added an extra “0” to that Duquesne reference…..a like how he asked what his team did I Frisco…..once….how about all of the other times?? His stuff is past old…..
Just talk about the game you just played and won, give the kids the credit and move on to the next one….that 1 banner you’ve hung from 6 years ago is a long time ago….Taylor, Elmore etc….aren’t suiting up anymore, quit talking about them every week about what they’ve done….focus on the here and now and how can get better moving forward.
Actually it’s not the same place. Same city but two different sites. What do you expect? He’s 76 years old. Dan’s not going to abandon his persona for you or anyone else.
……although, by pointing out his reference last night to Frisco, site of the start of the “8 day magical run” that took place in the same complex where the football team is playing in a couple of days, I’m sure Sam will want to comment on this unique coincidence! 😂
You’re exactly right, Chuckie. Head over to that facility Tuesday night. I have great seats for you.to Frisco, site of the start of the “8 day magical run” that took place in the same complex where the football team is playing in a couple of days,
"Not having another player after those seven . . . "? Well, that FACT is ALL ON DANNY!! NCAA scholarships are not 4-year, or more, "guarantees"! Reason that they are renewable yearly or are supposed to be. Why Danny has too many players who after 4, or even 5, years STILL on the squad, but who even after that time span, cannot be counted on, apparently, by the Coaching Staff to significantly play and contribute in vital times during game action, is one of his Worst Flaws as a Head Coach. Don't need to name specific "players"; most know whom I am referring to. Vital attribute required of a head coach in order to succeed at this level is that of having the stomach to make tough personnel decisions, particularly when it comes to renewing scholarships or when it comes to telling a player or players that it is "just time" to be moving on. Danny's lack of the stomach, and the stones, to make said decisions has been detrimental, overall, to the MU basketball program during his tenure, IMO!!Didn't get a chance to go last night due to Christmas obligations, but watched replay. The team is starting to play together and you can see some vast improvement. I really like the combo of Martin/Oak, they really play well together. Connor is doing a better job at the point which is allowing both Voyles/Curfman to focus on what they do best. This team "could" have a successful Sun Belt season, but (to me ) these are the keys:
1. Voyles has got to continue to buy in the system (which he seems to have).
2. Crawford has got to buy into the system. It seemed he had for a couple of games, but the last two he has went back to too much one on one.
3. Fricks must consistently play like he did last night.
4. Not having another player after those seven is an issue. Somebody has got to step up and give 5-8 minutes. Maybe the walk on will be that person, sad to say he or Nutter have the most potential to do it.
So olde - you would prefer the coach play Goran & Marko, even at the expense of wins, to justify recruiting them in the first place?"Not having another player after those seven . . . "? Not sure if Duquesne is getting their monies worth. LOL!Yep. SBC top to bottom not very strong. We should be able to win the majority, and ODU looks to be down so far. JMU (#18) and App appear to be top shelf heading into conference play……
p.s.
Another interesting tidbit from Dan’s postgame (besides the secret of good spaghetti sauce! 😂):
Speaking about the NIL 💵 disparity between the Herd and Duquesne earlier:
“We had $20,000 on the court. They had $500,000……”
Why would we count them if you already have? Is this Sesame Street or something?, count ‘em
Bluefield wouldn't win a 4A high school championship down here in NC... Last night was a finals week money grab for the couple thousand people who attended (assuming they paid for tickets).Expected win tonite vs Bluefield 103-72. 7, count ‘em 7 players in dbl figures! Martin with another double double…..
And the weak league will keep Dan on the bench for several more years, despite many close to him urging him to retire after this year, including Mike.Bluefield wouldn't win a 4A high school championship down here in NC... Last night was a finals week money grab for the couple thousand people who attended (assuming they paid for tickets).
The "good" news is the SBC is awful outside of JMU and App... More than half the league is below .500 (during the part of the year when you can schedule whatever cupcakes you want)... Georgia Southern is literally the worst team in America at 0-11.
They are 8-2...Not sure if Duquesne is getting their monies worth. LOL!
That they are, let's see what they do in post season. IF they get there. That's where you earn your money, not playing teams like us.They are 8-2...
That's true. TBF we have looked much better since Miami. This team is growing on meThat they are, let's see what they do in post season. IF they get there. That's where you earn your money, not playing teams like us.
Bluefield "University" (not to be confused with the equally not really a university Bluefield State "University", which is currently fighting be dis-accredited) is a 900 student most preachers and teachers college in the NAIA (four levels below DI). They were paid to get assreamed, and were.Bluefield wouldn't win a 4A high school championship down here in NC...
Nothing wrong with a breather after a tougher stretch to regroup and get some of the bench playing time.Bluefield "University" (not to be confused with the equally not really a university Bluefield State "University", which is currently fighting be dis-accredited) is a 900 student most preachers and teachers college in the NAIA (four levels below DI). Not that it matters in this one-bid low-seed league, but we gain nothing from this in any of the rankings systems. It was a pure money grab, a way to get a free spot win and make the season ticket package look bigger than it actually is.
But, if you look at the rest of this woeful league, they all do it. Dozens of non-DI games, plus plenty of games against the very bottom of DI.
Partner, I know you struggle to comprehend when people talk about sports objectively, so I will slow this down for you.Sunbelt hasnt started yet, but the whole conference sucks.
So, "fans" rip on Dan for setting up schedules to allegedly make him look good.
Then those same "fans" are already ripping on the Sunbelt in case we happen to do well in conference play.
Because apparently that isnt good enough.
So many pathetic posts in this thread and in other threads about our basketball team and our basketball coach. Im embarrassed for many of you.
GO HERD

Perkins, if you had a semblance of a "BRAIN" you'd be embarrassed for the Program here in Year Ten of DD's "meh" tenure!!Sunbelt hasnt started yet, but the whole conference sucks.

One is what a small child would post. "Marshall is the bestest eveeer".Partner, I know you struggle to comprehend when people talk about sports objectively, so I will slow this down for you.
Current Sun Belt standings --
JMU -- 10-0 (that is good)
App State -- 9-2 (that is also good)
Louisiana -- 6-5 (that is mediocre)
South Alabama -- 6-5
Southern Miss -- 6-5
Texas State -- 6-5
Troy -- 5-5
Georgia State -- 5-6 (that is bad)
Marshall -- 5-7 (that is also bad)
ULM -- 4-6
Arkansas State -- 4-7
ODU -- 3-6 (awful)
Coastal -- 3-7
Georgia Southern -- 0-11 (literally the worst team in America)
Conference RPI rankings -- 32 leagues total
18. Big South
19. Sun Belt
20. Big West
The Sun Belt is behind such juggernaut leagues as the Big Sky Conference, the Southern Conference, the Big South, etc.
This isn't our opinion, that the SBC sucks. The SBC does, in fact, suck.
UNCW is the lock of Western Civ tomorrow night. Here we see two types of posts:
One is what a small child would post. "Marshall is the bestest eveeer".
The other is what an adult would post. Cold logical adult facts and figures about the woeful state of MU basketball and of the SBC, which is a low one bid conference.
One furthers the conversation. One does not.
