fyi Charles Huff..

Yeah, I said 6-6. Looks like 8-4, 8-5 counting the bowl loss. You said, I believe 11-1, which is progress towards maturity for you, as you actually admitted that OSU had a chance to beat us. OK. I was off by two wins. Appy and Coastal are not what they have been recently (and, as well-run programs, they will demand better and get right in short order). I missed just how weak the opposition turned out to be. Off by two games.

The difference is you will celebrate 8-5. You celebrate mediocrity.

Ahhh yes. Conditional wins again.

And the MAC teams were world beaters!!!

To be fair. Mediocrity is low performance or average. Being average is 50%. This is not a mediocre team and you are wrong.

fyi Charles Huff..

We have 8 wins which is more than you ever imagined. We are winning games in many different ways. Offense, defense snd special teams.

"But in this portal era of college sports, he has shown he can reload a mid-major program with limited NIL funds with good, competitive players and - frankly - that's about the best we can hope for given our location, standing, and money."

This. Give the guy his extension... if he'll take it.
Yup. Huff isn’t perfect as a head coach. But the players love him and he is a really good recruiter. He has really grown as a coach and I hate to lose him after all the growing pains. Lol

FOOTBALL GAME THREAD ODU

Yes winning is the goal but it's ok to be critical even when you succeed. That's where growth happens and it's not something our defense has done lately. There are things wrong defensively and to quote your hero mark snyder, "we gotta get that fixed"

But. To add. The defense played very good in the first half. Giving up only 7 points to that same offense.

Bananas

There used to be a poster on this site that suffered a whole lot of blight with his banana. Rifle made fun of him to the point he no longer posts here. I think Rifle found him on one of the 'my pecker itches' forums.
I forgot about that guy. He used the same exact unique username on here that he used on the banana forum where he disclosed and asked questions about his medical issue below the waist. Poor guy.

.

Disclaimer: I normally don't bring up rifle's name in my posts, but this thread reminded me that.
It’s alright. You already won the challenge. You were able to make one singular post without mentioning me. You couldn’t do two in a row, but that wasn’t the challenge.

Look. I'm not a Huff fan. I think he's been painfully slow adjusting to being a head coach. That being said, barring an absolute cluster next week at JMU, we have to at least be talking with him about an extension. We're in first place in our division going into the last week of the season. That has to count for something.

Is Huff a "finished product" when it comes to being a head coach? No. But in this portal era of college sports, he has shown he can reload a mid-major program with limited NIL funds with good, competitive players and - frankly - that's about the best we can hope for given our location, standing, and money.

I think he's brought in some decent coaches as well. I like Doege and think he's a promising hire. Now the DC? That dude has to go. Like yesterday.
Doege has been very good this year. Believe we're number one in the SBC in rushing yards/game and 5th in points/game.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him running a program soon or at the very least getting a P4 OC job. Probably needs one more good year under his belt and he will start to get some looks.

Bananas

I was eating a banana this morning and thinking it just didn’t taste as good as it did when I was a kid. Then I did some research and found that the banana I ate as a kid decades ago no longer exists. The entire variety was wiped out by some type of blight. When one banana gets this blight, it eventually spreads to all the bananas of that variety.

The new variety of banana we have now is not as sweet and flavorable as the older one. And even it is now threatened by blight. Soon we may have no bananas at all. This is a slippery slope (I had to throw that in).
