The black uniforms trimmed in green look really good. And FYI black is a school color as wellHow about we eliminate the GREEN and the WHITE from the uniforms. OH, I forgot they are the school colors...........
Black is NOT one of MU's school colors. The school colors are Kelly Green and White. Period. The printing office has a 20 page guide for the entire University which has specific rules. And yes, it has a colors page that includes "black". It also includes several shades of brown for drawings of Marco, and several other colors for drawing of buildings and colors associated with particular majors, that does NOT make any of those our school colors. The school colors are Kelly Green and White. Period.
Now as to the black uniforms. Hate 'em. Hate when UK football wears grey and blue. Hate when WVU's drunkassed coach wears Raiders colors or when it wears grey or black. Hate when Virginia Tech wears gray and black. Hate it when Tennessee wears black.
Teams should not wear black unless it is one of their colors like Wake Forest, Western Kentucky, or Colorado.
The official color guide from the universityHey herdfan429 where in the world do you come up with black being one of Marshall University's colors? I began with Marshall in 1961 and black has never been one of the two colors - kelly green and white. I will concede that we have seen some god-awful color combinations - including some black - but not listed as an official color. Now please correct this old man if I am wrong. Show me your evidence.

So, you think brown, light brown, beige, purple, red, orange, dark green, and grey, which are all on the same page in said guide, are also the school colors?
Wrong. Kelly Green and White.
- Satan's Vile Servant, the repugnant liar KO Marcum took Nike's word that it could not do Kelly Green (even though North Texas, the only other school with our shade of green had it) and we got a much darker Michigan State shade of green. This was more in fan wear than uniforms, and still causes resentment because a lot of retailers who would carry a little MU gear were stuck with unsellable crap when MH came in and the Printing Office launched a modern style guide like other school had for a long time. Highpants, the arch enemy of all that is good and right, also was responsible for the Scobby Doo Marco outfit.
.
could you be more specific on the drunkass wvu coach....football or basketball or both?

- The recent afectation with black.
Now let's be honest with ourselves here - the black uniforms aren't a tribute to 1970 team, they're a gimmick. Almost every other school in Division I has cycled in a black version of their uniform at some point or another, and we just hopped the bandwagon about ten years late. Our black uniforms are a way to remember the 1970 team and I don't see why we should stop them now.

All of these logos are official from marshall.edu
Yes it's an accent color, but it is more prominent than white. I don't see the big deal about black jerseys.

While everyone is bitching...three logos is pretty damn stupid, too.
That's what gets me. Ever since the movie came out, Marshall has made the plane crash the totality of our tradition, and we flog that thing every chance we get, always under the claim that its a tribute, even when its transparent in its completely self-serving nature. We court bad taste in doing so, but seem completely blind to (or unconcerned by) that fact.
The other day, a visiting prospect's dad came on here and asked what's fun to do in Huntington. He was told to visit a cemetery and watch a 10-year-old McG movie.
Its becoming a recurring theme with Marshall - in the absence of glory, sift through the ashes.
the middle one is no longer an official logo.
we have a university logo:
and an athletic logo
That's one too many.

not really, it's actually quite common though a couple schools have recently ditched the separate university/athletics logos and consolidated them (auburn and uk i know off hand), they still have "alternate" athletic logos. it's good for retail to have a couple options, which is why most pro sports teams, d1 colleges, etc have that.

Here's why I don't like the logo with "The Herd": no one attends The Herd. What is that? In a dying state and trying to gain out of state students I think that is important. And I hate to say it, but WVU was brilliant with the flying WV. It's as sure as the IU for Indiana, no mistaking that logo.
Now if I can convince pro teams to stop selling stuff in the wrong colors. A red and white Yankees cap, WTF is that?
