They are losing subscribers at a rapid pace. Makes you wonder if they will still be paying out big money for football in the future.

We just need to get a G5 network like the Big 10 network and cut them out

And don't forget, ohio herd, ESPN also owns and essentially runs about 99% of ALL the FBS post season football bowls. So when the bowl selections come out, and you see that the Whale Blubber Bowl in Anchorage, Alaska is pairing two 5-7 teams, one a "Power" Conference bottom feeder and the other an also ran from a G5 Podunk conference, don't be surprised. This won't be an ISOLATED BOWL match up, more than likely there will be scads of such highly anticipated "clashes" between ho-hum teams, each one guaranteed to pull an audience share of about .000000000001 in the ratings!!

And ESPN's red ink will continue to flow, subscribers will continue to cancel, until, at some point, the mother ship at ABC/Disney pulls the plug, and the underpinnings behind the Power 5 creation and despicable money and power grab come tumbling down in one big heap!!!!!!

Yep. The ESPN model, which to review is to force "everybody" to pay for ESPN, even if they have no interest in sports (and, yes, there are lots of people who have no interest in sports) which has been copied by Fox, NBC, and CBS, is dying. Leaving out channels with sports part time like TBS or TNT of the broadcast networks, you pay about $14/month for sports channels via your cable or dish bill.

Now there are ways to get only the channels you want. A lot of people don't want sports channels.

ESPN is burdened with multiple layers of empty suit executives, massive over-bid contracts including an absolutely crazy money loser with the NBA, and over-paid talking head no-talents. There will be pain as they try to get back to a rational place. Could not happen to a nicer bunch.

And, yes, all of these ginned up bowl games which ESPN owns are part of it. Remember the lowly MAC? Win the conference was the O N L Y way to get a bowl. Those days may come again.

As to a G5 channel (probably G4, as the delusional and arrogant THE AMERICAN!!!!!! would not participate) I would sign up yesterday. The ACC is getting a channel next year, which means all four of the major conferneces will have one. It is the next logical step.

oldeherd we don't have to worry about the Whale Blubber Bowl. CUSA has the extremely well attended Bahama Bowl. But that doesn't matter. We all got to save money this year!
