when capitalism becomes unrestrained by democratic checks and impulses, that’s no longer the kind of capitalism that once produced broad prosperity in this country. “If you want to see what happens when you have capitalism without democracy, you can see it very clearly in Russia,” he said. “It turns into crony capitalism, and that turns into oligarchy.”
Mr. Buttigieg said.

his rhetoric reminds us of a crucial point: There is, or should be, a democratic element to capitalism — and an economic element to how we define democracy.

After all, oligarchy does have an economic element to it; in fact, it is explicitly economic. Oligarchy is the rule of the few, and these few have been understood since Aristotle’s time to be men of wealth, property, nobility, what have you.

I COULD VOTE FOR THIS GUY IF HE WASN'T A QUEER.
BETWEEN HIM AND CROOKED DONALD - I WOULD.

Dtard...are you seriously arguing that a country where the government still owns multiple facets of the economy is “unrestrained” capitalism?

Russia is, at best, a transition economy.

good question - no - i am saying that unrestrained capitalism puts power in the hands
of the few who own most of the wealth and then becomes an oligarchy as in Russia.

So, are you saying that history would suggest that Russia was an unrestrained capitalistic country in the not so distant past?

If you’re not arguing that Russia is an example of “unrestrained” capitalism, then why does the title of this thread (which you created) say “UNRESTRAINED CAPITALISM = RUSSIA?”

NO, I WILL NOT,. MY TIME WOULD BE BETTER SPENT TALKING TO A STUMP.
YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO THINK ABOUT WHAT I'VE ALREADY SAID.
IF THAT DOESNT WORK FOR YOU YOULL JUST HAVE TO MOVE ON TO
LESS COMPLICATED THINGS, LIKE ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION.

Thread fail, now he mad.

Btw, there is, and never has been, unrestrained capitalism anywhere. Capitalism is always checked and balanced, be it by laws, regulations, criminals, or morality. Pure capitalism can not exist because of human nature, just like communism, socialism, or any other economic "ism" out there.

For any pure "ism" to exist and function you need 100% buy in by every member of the society matched by 100% morality to the system in question. Won't ever happen.
