Dick's Drive-In to increase minimum wage to $19 per hour

It is in Seattle. Good for them.
Irrelevant. The starting pay is $19/hour and their prices are in line with McDonalds. In addition to their hourly wage all employees have access to a $28,000 scholarship benefit as soon as they pass their first skills test, and they
offer 100% employer-paid health insurance for all employees. Children are covered at 75%, spouses at 50%.

Dental coverage is 100% employer-paid for non-smoking employees, 50% for smokers.

We need to just move to equal pay for everything. Until we do this socialism full scale, we're going to have people who keep clamoring for it.

Only way out is to get it, do it and show that it won't work. I would like it if it would, but I know it wouldn't.

That’s wonderful. Did you meet or exceed those wages and benefits for the people you let go? Don’t preach if you don’t practice.

Why are idiots like you asking why a 5 staff cabinet maker can't do that, and not asking why Ford Motor Company, Walmart, and McDonalds are not doing something similar to the drive-in? Until you ask about that, shut up.

I thought they were though.

Ford Motor Company probably pays big bucks. Wal Mart, you can get $17 an hour and all the benefits and that's just in Barboursville, McDonald's is paying $14 or $15 out here in Ohio. That's probably more money than $19 an hour in Seattle.

Sounds like another example of people already having stuff they're complaining about not having.

What's the STARTING pay for those companies you mentioned? Idiot.

I don't know. I'm sorry.

I forgot. Ford, McDonald's and Wal Mart are bad. I understand now. You have to forgive me. I'm a new leftist.

What is it we want, the government to take them over? OK. Just no more owners of them?

I don't know. Seems like fighting over stuff that's already settled though really. Sam Walton died a long time ago and all these Wal Marts and everything run on EBT and people drawing checks. They make their workers wear masks and everything. Seems like the government already took them over.

Dumbass! Minimum wage means minimum wage and that’s what EVERY damn employee you had would have made.

Greed could have provided some of those benefits had he actually wanted to. Instead he hid the sales $$$ in a commingled personal account for his own use, and claiming his business hobby didn’t have the money to afford it.

When you choose to remain a private company, many of the benefits listed are much easier to pay out. You can be more nimble in allocating these types of benefits.

even in the case of McDonald’s…there are indeed franchise owners which pay well above min wage levels as well as offer scholarships to their employees if they stay on.

Good for them. That's the beauty of America. Wages vary by region.

Now, why didn't you do that? If a burger joint did it, why didn't you? Then, you will have the answer as to why other's don't do that.

Ford's starting pay is $15.78.

And assembly line work is not easy. It is hell on your body.

I'm shocked that robots aren't doing it all by now.

Any job is hell on your body though. Sitting here now for 14 years has been quite unhealthy. They warned me that I'd get big and fat, but even as a withered away corpse I still have nothing but stiff, shitty joints and muscles. Useless.

You sit at a desk 14 years and you become physically useless. Whether you're fat or not.

Real physical work is probably the healthiest if you start out with it and do it every day your whole life. I messed up being lazy and wanting to sit down, but my feet were always messed up anyway. Flat as boards and hurt to walk or stand on.

Bottom line is all jobs and any jobs will burn and use you up. Even your job, my job. All jobs.

This whole thread though was just EG either hating or pretending to still hate Henry Ford, Sam Walton and Ronald McDonald.

That's all this was. If this Dick was Dick Clark or anybody famous, he probably wouldn't have posted it. He likes it that some no name little shit shop is paying somebody a lot of money to wear goofy outfits to serve hot dogs.

Dick’s employees earn a base wage that varies from $19/hr to $20/hr (only at the Broadway & Queen Anne locations)

^^^phlegmwad has nothing. So resorts to lying, as per usual.

You stupid punk. Can you find a single McDonald's that starts you at $19/hr?? In Seattle they start at $13.

Yet again, pervtard interested in another man's genitals.

Of course wages vary by region. But you and your fellow conservative idiots are the ones who tried to tell us $15/hr minimum wage would create $13 happy meals. Now in seattle where the minimum wage is $15/hr and a burger joint is starting people out at $19/hr plus benefits and the prices on there menu are no more than what McDonalds charges in Wayne County. You ridiculously stupid oath breaking liar.

Like I said earlier, you're an idiot.

they are doing that as a small local company and doing it in two of their locations. Now if they had 500 or 1200 locations across the country what would they be doing? What kind of profit margins is he running at? Their site says he is doing it in two of their locations. Seattle min wage is $16,69 an hour. This guy is slightly above that.
