Ok so which tourney?

Already 5 regular season champions that will not get a NCAA bids have lost in their conf tourneys. So 5 of 32 spots are gone from non power 5 conf reg season conf champs. This is still with at least 10 more tourneys left to play out. I am guessing at least 4 more, which takes up about 28% of the total spots. With only 8 at large bids from last year (not sure how many conf champs lost in their tourney last year) don't see us in the NIT if we don't win our tourney. Our recent history does not give us a leg up over other teams.

I just hope if we choose to play in one of the low rate tournaments we actually show up to play. We have been flat in the past, adding to insult of playing in a crummy tournament is getting hammered in one.

The last "pay for play" tournament I saw MU play at the Henderson Center the players were not really into the game. No Enthusiasm !!! A lot of walking around dribbling and very uninspired. It was like they were embarrassed to be there.

That was when everyone knew DJ was on the way to UCF, the players knew he was bailing and played like it. I think this is a completely different situation that they want to continue playing and know it could pay big dividends for next season - from a tournament experience perspective. jmo

So we are valuing a possible home game vs playing better competition. Gotcha

Sometimes I feel Hamrick is the roadblock keeping Marshall back.

Eh. While the CBI had a marginally better field last year the difference is not overwhelming. There wasn't a single power conference team in either tournament:

You can like our AD or not. Personally, I think he is the best AD we have had, ever. But, really we are going to be down on him because supposedly he picked the CBI over the CIT or v-v. Based on a supposed unwillingness of one or the other to give (actually sell) us a home game?

Really?

Come on, man.

At the end of the day, because of auto-bids, probably the NCAA takes the top 40 and the NIT the next 20. And, looking at Wikipedia, pretty much it looks like the next 40 best are spread between these two pay to play deals. I cannot say which one is better than the other, really. But the bigger point is you really are going to get upset if we are in a deal that has, say, 10 of what is really numbers 61-100, rather than, say 12 of them. Who cares?

If we are going to play in either of these tournaments, we should absolutely be valuing home games over opponent.

Would you rather play an A-10 team on the road or a So.Con team at home? There is pretty much no difference in media exposure or anyone outside of the two programs giving a rats ass, so you better take the home game... Its not like the CBI is filled with slightly above 500 ACC, Big East and Big 10 schools and the CIT is also rans from the MAAC, SWAC and Sun Belt. The competition isn't much different.
