. . . many things are overlooked. When you lose, everything is put under a microscope. And that allows those things to become major issues that tip the scale the wrong way.

Doug Chapman is not classified as a football coach. That means he cannot recruit off-campus, cannot help the players with film, practice, etc. He basically can't talk football with them. As they run off of the field, he can't say to them "high-and-tight" referring to how they should carry the ball. As they sit on the bench, he can't say "Remember, they've shown that the Mike likes to come delayed on 3rd-and-long." Doing anything like that is a violation.

However, in almost every single game this season, television cameras have picked up Chapman only talking to the running backs as they sit on the bench. You never see him talking to the QBs, WRs, CBs, etc. It's always the RBs. Considering he is a former NFL RB, it isn't hard to determine why he is talking to only the RBs during games. This is where a rookie head coach needs a DFO, assistant AD, or somebody with a brain to bring it to his attention.

Scott Frost at Nebraska is going to lose his job, and the icing on the cake was analysts (such as Chapman) being used improperly. Other programs have been hit with violations over the last couple of years on it, and it's the last thing a coach who is struggling wants to face.
